Warped water neck wont stop leaking

This aftermarket chrome water neck I have leaks no mater what I try. Last summer I found that the gasket surface was warped. I machined it flat and now it is warped again. I don't know what brand it is but i do know I don't want another like it. It is a chromed steel type that uses a conventional gasket.

Any suggestions on a good quality water neck that wont warp?

Those chrome water necks are crap. Go back to stock.

I had a similar problem with my factory water neck.  I was told at Carlisle a couple years ago by a guy who used to be a Chrysler mechanic that over time, the alluminum warps.  He said to take a file and file the gasket surface area down to where the water neck is flush and true.  That seems to have stopped the leaking issue with me for the past couple of years.

That worked for a about a year for me too. Amazingly it is warped again.

I had the same problem with my chrome water neck. I filed it flat then made my own gasket out of a thicker material and made sure I didn't over tighten it.

I bought the (Part No: 121-1017) from 440-Source. I have not tried it yet, but it has a very thick bolting flange and is a very good looking piece. I think it should do the job.

I don't particularly like using RTV unless it is a very thin coating. If you use too much it can gob up and plug a tube.

I can't remember now who, but someone use to make a thick flange housing that used an O-ring instead of a gasket. I haven't seen it in a while though...

Like this one on Ebay? I wonder if that O-ring will seal up on the water pump flange.

I trust 440 Source parts. I may end up ordering that water neck. I just got my heads and gaskets from 440 Source too.

It could be the same.  Without seeing the bottom of it to know it has been milled for the O-ring or how thick the flange is I still would question it.

I think Moroso or Milodon made them. Right now my mind is blank..
