Here you guys go:

NEW CASTLE, Ind. -- Four teen girls were hospitalized, one in critical condition, Friday after the driver tried to make their car go airborne and ended up in a serious crash, police said.Police said the car's driver admitted going at least 75 mph before she lost control and hit a concrete column that weighed as much as two tons.Kathy Smiley said she was standing in her kitchen when she saw the car in midair out her window."When I looked up, I saw a vehicle sideways in the air and I saw it slam down across the very end of my driveway," Smiley said.

That's terrible, and the driver must be in a world of guilt right now.

At least they fared better than these guys...

When I was younger, and didn't know better, Me and my friends used to drive hilly roads like that at about 75 to 100 to jump the cars. We got lucky we never hit anything. I hope their all okay.

BTW - I believe that is a PT Cruiser the girls were in.

We used to jump my friends old S10 back in the day.  But only over intersections, ect.  We got some pretty good air sometimes...  nothing like that though.

My grandmother lives about 2 miles from that location. When I was in college I had driven to my grandparents house on weekend, and my mom and dad were there also. My mom wanted to drive the 74 Duster that I had just bought, 360 4 speed car. We went down that road, with my mom driving, and she was probably doing about 75 over each hill. You could tell the car was getting air each time we went over the hills, and heard the tires squeal each time they touched back down. Not the smartest thing to do I guess now looking back, but I was laughing the whole time looking over at my mom just banging gears in the 4 speed and jumping the car.

Hollywood stunt crews actually DO watch out for this issue quite a bit. Once you vault a car 15 feet upwards at highway speed, you can't assume it's gonna end up on a straight path like it's supposed to.  Steering/suspension/brakes/wheels/tires can break when the car hits the ramp, etc.   Stunt drivers can also knock themselves unconscious during the landing of the stunt.

The crews often conveniently park some cheapo "buffer" cars in front of solid fixed objects near the path of the flying/crashing stunt car.

They also use a lot of "stab-cars."  Another stunt driver will be sitting in another car downstream of the stunt (sometimes visible, sometimes just idling behind corner or something). He's ready to pull out in front of the stunt car (to get rammed by the stunt car and stop it) if the driver can't control the launched car after it's back on the ground.

should have been a general lee, would have made it, just teasing, i hope they are all okay and revover quickly, hopefully they learned their lesson that cars dont fly(designed to that is)

man i used to jump my 93 s-10 too!! that is so wild. those trucks had great suspension for minor jumps. i used to jump railroad crossings and intersections a lot. so much fun. the first time i did it was by accident i was going about 55 and hit a really big dip intersection about 11 pm. it sent me way airborne and scared the crap outta me. once i realized the truck was still perfect and didn't even bottom out.. i would do it on purpose sometimes after.. my first new truck too.. probably in mexico now along with all other s-10's and rangers

I know from experience that mini-vans don't fly too well.  They will do ok though if you have a couple of fat people in the back seat.  But then you bottom out so take that for what its worth.  On the same trip we learned that a Dodge mini-van (the same one we jumped) if left in first gear at all times will finally shift to 3rd around 74 MPH but it will never shift to high.  We also learned that during hard cornering the steering will lock up.  And when the trip was finally over we found that a mini-van with 6K miles has a toasted tranny.  We had no idea why.  :icon_smile_wink:
When I was just a very young lad I looked up and told my dad, a bareback rider's what I wanna be.  I want the whole world to know about me.  In the rodeo arena I'll make my stand.  I wanna be a rodeo man.  I'll come flyin' from the chute with my spurs up high, chaps and boots reachin' for the sky.  Spurin' wild with my head throwed back, you'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.  You'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.

Yeah that poor S10 went through hell.  Such a good truck...  He sold it to me when he bought a new car and I sold it back to him when I was done with it.  Still ran like it was new.  I wish I had known he was selling it or I would have bought it back again, but he sold it while I was gone in the Army.  From what I heard he sold it to a Mexican for $800 who drove it to California the next day.   :'(

This is the jumping truck I actually want to own.  It won't show a lick of damage even after doing this all day long:
