i received and installed my seat covers, they feel great and installed easy. My only problem is that the covers dont fit snug, there are wrinkles. is there a way to make everything tighter or wrinkle free?

thanx in advance

I saw on the post by the guy that rebuilt the green Hemi 69 car that they recovered their seats using Legendary covers and had some wrinkles.  They put them out in the sun for a while and the wrinkles disappeared.  He has pictures of the entire rebuild including the new seats and they looked perfect.  I don't have the link to this right now.  I think the site was referenced somewhere in Shakey's thread about rebuilding his vent windows.

I paid someone to do it because they are one of the most obvious parts of the car and if you screw them up everyone notices. However, I do know that you have to stretch the covers so they are tight. Sometimes the foam on the seats has shrunk or been compacted so the new covers are loose. The guy who did my Barracuda had to add foam to build the seat cushions back up. Heat only works to take out small wrinkles and you must be very careful not to burn the vinyl. The vinyl stretches better when it is warm though so laying the covers out in the sun before working with them is a good idea.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

yep blowdryer  :yesnod:  or your seat foam might be saggy ,  when i done mine new seat foam was not repoped , so i bought a roll of 1/2" thick foam , to cut to shape a lay it on the original seat   foam , warm the new seat cover up either put it in the sun, or warm it up on a radiator , becarefull though , put the cover on  line it up make sure the pattern is straight  ,& start at the back OR bottom edge first turn the seat over so you are looking at the underside , & apply pressure as if someone is sitting on the seat pressing the bottom frame down a little , either get a helper stretch the cover , & then hog ring it at the appropriate point . once done heat it up with a  hair blow dryer to soften the vinyl , then stick it out in the sun for a few hours , if no sun keep warming it up with a blow dryer until any wrinkles flatten out. :yesnod:

A few thoughts on this:

--  Spend money on a good Hog Ring tool that works right.  It's a lot cheaper than messing up one of the seatcovers.

--  Get at least one other person to help you.  Pulling on stuff with four hands will do a lot less damage than two hands pulling twice as hard.

--  Yeah, a normal hairdryer will be plenty of heat.  A heat-gun is overkill and probably risking trouble.

--  Don't do the whole covering job on the floor of an unheated garage.  Do it in a comfortable 60-70 degree room.

I have a friend who owns a trim shop . They use a steamer to permit the vinyl to stretch . For what is cost and the risk of damaging the skin ,let a pro do it . It is not worth my time .

I don't know how many set's of seat cover's I have had to fix from people using a heat gun and holding it in one place too long and melting the vinyl,or using cheap hog ring plier and jabbin it through the seat cover.
