Got back from Barrett Jackson yesterday. What a trip. It was a total madhouse after about 11am on Friday and Saturday. The local newspaper put the attendance at 250,000 and it seemed as if they were all there at once. Even though the grounds are huge, it was people everywhere except for the tents housing the cars the furthest from the auction tent. The line for the free drinks in the bidders bar had about 10 lines and each line was about 15 people deep. The line moved fairly fast though. The bidders pass had a free drink section on it and each time you got a drink they punched one of the numbers for each day. They allotted 10 drinks per day which I thought was quite generous on the one hand but their intent was probably to make one less inhibited so they would bid more. Anyways, I took many photos of which I will post primarily the Mopar ones as I get a chance in the next day or so. I also will post some photos of the more unique cars.

I had a great time and it was well worth the cost to see this event. I highly recommend it to any car guy or gal to see the variety of cars (forget the politics of BJ). Would I go again? Probably not unless it was to go to buy an overpriced  premium quality car. I looked at many,  many cars and found that BJ put most of the premier cars in their own tent close to the auction tent. All the other cars were a distance from the auction tent. My Charger which I feel is very nice although not a 100 point car is not nearly as nice as the big dollar premier cars. However, it was nicer than about 80% of the rest of the cars that went through the auction. Many of the cars look real good on TV but some have major flaws. One car that really stands out in my mind was a blue Chevelle. It sold for about $30,000 plus dollars and it had dirt in the paint, pinholes in the bodywork, bondo cracks, and a waterfall run about 3 feet wide by 1/3 inch deep running along the rear roofline above the rear window. Whoever bought that car couldn't have looked it over very closely.

On to the pictures.......

Yes, it's a Corvair. The pics are wider than the screen but you can drag them to see the whole picture. I don't know why.

Man, I would love to go there!  Did you bid on anything?  Did you have a bidder pass?  What do you have to do to get a bidder pass, show proof of funds or financing?  Thanks for the pictures.

I had a bidder's pass. They are $400 or $500 depending on when you buy it. The pass is good for the bidder and one guest so I split it with a buddy. Extra guest passes are $115 (I believe). But only the person signed up as the bidder can bid on a car and in this case it happened to be me since I did all the leg work and yes, you have to prove to BJ that you can afford to bid. In the application you have to state what the max bid amount is that you want and then be able to prove you can qualify. The minimum amount is $30,000. I got a letter from my bank verifying that they would back up my business account check. The whole section in the middle of the auction tent where the chairs are is for bidders and guests only. There are guards at all the entrances and they make sure no one else passes. And no I did not bid on anything. I went and got the bidder's pass simply because I am a car nut and BJ was on my bucket list.

Yep! thats on my bucket list as well, and I think bidders get free food and drinks, $500 for food drink and atmosphere is not a bad deal at all in my opinion :Twocents:
