If I could do it again I would go straight to Tim Banning @ http://www.forhemisonly.com/

Their prices are similar to a new MP crate motor and you have the peace of mind of what's inside it.  Also his reputation pretty much speaks for itself nowadays.  IMO, if you're gonna spend the money why not spend a little more for the stroker.  You'll love it.

The new MP 528 / 610 hp crates are being built by Barton.    They're coming in around 635hp or so.    No more Cummins assembled junk - at least for that particular motor.

I thought the Cummins built motors were a step up from the first generation motors.  :shruggy:  You're not, or at least I'm not hearing the horror stories from oh say 5 years ago.

At the sake of contradicting myself, my Cummins assembled junk checked out fine and I couldn't be happier with it's performance.

Barton started building the 528 crates late last year.   E-booger went over to check them out and he told me they were coming in over advertised HP ratings last fall.    I was told they had about 200 motors in progress.   There was a supply problem with the exhaust rockers IIRC.   I'm assuming it was resolved by now.

I don't know anything more about the 426 or 472s.    This was only about the 528s.

Is it possible to buy those engines without being assembled. What i mean is can you get them and assemble them yourself?  It would probably be a small amount less expensive if you could.. :shruggy: :shruggy:

I would go by  Tim, at FHO  :2thumbs:
Super nice guy, and good prices. Also, i like his thought about how a build should be, with longer con rods than what RB uses, and CP pistons. :2thumbs:
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

Yes. And no. You can buy every single individual part but, honestly, For Hemis Only sells the engines assembled for about the same cost as all the parts retail. Package deals are much better and they get volume discounts on the parts. They also use Stage V aluminum heads in all their builds. I'm sure some places sell "kits" but you usually get what they bundled instead of what you really wanted. In my case, I'd rather trust the professionals with a $13-18k engine but I'm sure others here are more experienced and more comfortable than I am.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Write up on Barton's Hemi build in the April Mopar Action magazine. Looks pretty tempting  :drool5:
