Not by me they aren't. I don't think they should attend Mopar shows either. They are AMC's and that's all they are.

Did you know the Pacer was supposed to be rotery powered with G.M.s' never introduced wankel engine?..
so were the monza sunbird skyhawk trio, instead all those cars got piston engines they were not designed for and changing the rear spark plugs was a nightmare...

"Although many manufacturers licensed the design, and Mercedes-Benz used it for their C111 concept car, only Mazda has produced Wankel engines in large numbers. American Motors (AMC) was so convinced "...that the rotary engine will play an important role as a powerplant for cars and trucks of the future..." according to its Chairman Roy D. Chapin Jr., that the smallest U.S. automaker signed an agreement in 1973 to build Wankels for both passenger cars and Jeep vehicles, as well as the right to sell any rotary engines it produces to other companies.[3] It even designed the unique Pacer around the engine, even though by that time AMC had decided to buy the Wankel engines from GM instead of building them itself. However, the engines never reached production by the time the Pacer was to hit the showrooms. Part of the demise of this feature was the rising fuel crisis and concerns about emission legislation in the United States. General Motors' Wankel engine did not comply with emission levels, so in 1974 the company canceled its development. This meant that the Pacer's drivetrain design had to be reconfigured to house the venerable AMC Straight-6 engines with rear-wheel drive."

I feel they are since Chrysler bought them out, and still uses the old AMC engine plant to build engines. I love Gremlins & Javelins. Some Hornets too.

Thought I think that AMX's and Javelins are cool cars and my favorite AMC is the Rebel Machine, They aren't nor ever will be MOPARS to me.

Well, I guess AMC got grandfathered in around 1987 when Chrysler bought Jeep and the AMC Eagle came with it.

BTW: the AMC/Eagle premier, begat the LH Series that begat the LX series so your new Dodge,, ahem,.. sedan - Chrysler 300 and Magnum all have A French Grandfather...

"The once-independent American Motors Corporation (AMC), struggling to create a market identity after the demise of their Nash and Rambler labels, came up with small but very heavy cars with available 4WD (Eagle), forerunners of the late-80s bubble-style little cars (Pacer), and fast, furious experimental cars with high-performance engines (AMX). But it was all to no avail, and Renault ended up buying AMC, partly to sell their own cars in the American market. Their attempt failed, and Chrysler, under "buy and sell" Iaccoca, bought AMC. This move, though widely regarded as stupid at the time (probably by the same analysts who loved the Daimler-Chrysler merger), gave Chrysler one of its two biggest moneymakers: Jeep.

When Chrysler bought AMC, it agreed to sell a certain number of Renaults. (Iaccoca also reportedly promised not to end the AMC name, which he did shortly after the sale went through. Instead of AMC, he chose the name Eagle for the division, after the heavy, 4WD-capable, bulging-tired AMC which can still be found in snowy and hilly areas. The Eagle's sister, the AMC Concord, eventually found a namesake in a Chrysler LH car).

The Premier itself was not totally discontinued; its design was adapted into the LH."

I all ways wanted a javlin,,,cool cars....................I learned how to drive a clutch with a pacer,,,,ugly car,,,,,i all ways wanted to see if you turned it upside down in water,,,,would it float.....hahahaha,,,or at least make a fish tank out of it

Gotta agree, Mopar is like a "modern" American family;    stepfamily, ex-spouses and half-siblings all over the place...

I personally WELCOME AMC's at Mopar shows and are proud to have our half-brothers at the family reunions (as long as they bring the beer).

I always liked the Rambler Scrambler as well!  My vote is they are part of the mopar family.  What about Plymouths?  are they no longer part of the mopar family?
