Whats the best way to learn about chargers?

Ok,

i really want to be able to know what they heck im talkin about when it comes to my car.
So whats the best way to gain knowledge about my car, and cars in general.  i know experience working with your car is probably the best way, but i dont have that kind of time.

I do have time to read at work and when i travel,   so i wanted to see if there is a good book, or website or anything where it will take me from a-z.

any suggestions?

"Project Charger" would be a good start.

I also just purchased another book recently called "How To Rebuild and Modify Your Muscle Car". That one hasn't arrived yet so I don't know if it's any good.

If it is a second gen Charger, Project Charger is a good tool. Aside from that, the Factory Service guides are cool to. Hands on experience is the best though.

Yep, and you can get it on ebay......it is a resto book.

I would also advise you to pick up some older Mopar oriented magazines to read through in your spare time, when you are not reading the Project Charger book.  GG used to have a By The Numbers section in three different magazines and I did pick up a lot from that when it comes to decoding oddballs (information that is not always in his white books, but useful nonetheless).  You can pick them up cheap at swap meets, but the further you are from a bigger city, the harder they will be to get.  Vintage magazines can also be useful in that aspect, but are harder to find and cost more money.  Unfortunately, you will soon see that not every source can be correct 100% of the time, but some are much better than others...........

Yes. It is the story of a guy restoring his 1970 Charger. I am not a '70 Charger aficionado in any regards, so others can probably help you out more than I, but I do have the book and it really helped my brother and I on our '69 Charger.

Along with what everyone has said, I speak from experience when I say this forum! And I don't mean it just on a light scale, but I have spent a good bit of time here, and a majority of it hasn't been so much posting replys, or even asking questions, but just reading everything! You find out so much just reading and retain it without even knowing it. At least, that's what I have experienced. I understand that not everyone has the time to get on here once every day or two days, but just sitting down for a good bit, going through all the sections, and reading topics that are of interest to you is a great learning tool.

Spend your time in the "Mopar Garage" section of this site - a lot of good discussion goes on in there.

This will teach you all you need to know - even the little differences between years (but with same design) like '66-'67 or '71 to '74.....

  alot of help...
I've read here there are some mistakes in it.. but it's where i got my parts numbers for ordering stuff and pickin parts from junk yards...

I've looked at all the Charger books and read lots of Mopar magazines.  Plus gone to car shows and talked to folks.  But the single best place to learn about Chargers is this forum.  After that, I would search out some of the other Mopar forums.  Moparts is one.  There is a real good one on 62-65 Mopars that is excellent.  Also look at the mymopar website.  Try to read the posts every night.  Don't forget EBAY.  Lots of times, the sellers give real good descriptions of parts they are selling.  And finally, just surfing the net for specific info.  Having a computer is like having the Greek Oracle at your bekon and call.  Forgot to mention that you really need a high speed connection.  O/W, it's world wide wait.

Oh yes. Because Lord knows that the population of car shows can tell you SO much about what a car has to have. I still recall taking my 69 to a show a few summers ago, and being told about how this guy had the 1969 Charger RT, SE, LE. WOW! An 'LE' 69 Charger? That's got to be... one of one!

Or about how no Charger came with less than a 400 CI engine. Or the 'General Lee' package that the dealerships offered in '68 and '69 for a limited run!

I'm sure that if there was a thread dedicated to all of the nonsense we have been told at car shows, it would probably be the longest, and most hilarious thread on this board.

There are people who would swear to god that the General Lee was something Dodge did, and the show just happened to use that package because it looked "cool".

books like mopar muscle is a good start or this forum. these are the best sources i have used so far, and having a mopar does help along the way but so comes with the breakin pockets,bustin knuckles, alot of yelling, and getting kicked by father time in the nads
