Trying to get a bearing an seal kit for my 8 3/4 rear.

This is what I found on Summit.

Looking for a direct no mess around refresh for it.

I dont want to have to press anything... just put it in.

Just 6T9 CHGR

Yes, thats the updated "green" sealed type bearing.  Some people hate 'em, some love 'em.  Personally I've had mine in for over 10 years and about 8-9k miles with no troubles.

You will have to have your old tapered bearings pressed off the axles & these pressed on though....

Hum....

So what would be the summit parts be that dont need to be pressed.

The type of Green bearing shown in the OP is the old RP-400 flange style sold by MP, the MO-400 and ST-400 (Snap-ring style) are preferred.

All 8 3/4" axle bearings must be pressed, you won't find any vendor that offers a no-press bearing.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Im confused.

So do the Napa replacement parts need to be pressed?

Or is this just an aftermarket thing?

Somebody please give me a summit link with what to buy.

John, who makes the MO-400 and ST-400 bearings and where can I get them. I need to do axle bearings on my charger and I also heard that those bearings are better. Or should I just replace them with stock bearings.

                                         Thanks, Alan

if your bearings are not pressed on your axles will fall out when you drive it

Both are made by Green Bearing Company, just different style. The MO and ST style are available from many sources, try Doctor Diff  http://members.aol.com/doctordiff/

I wouldn't replace the original Timklen style unless absolutely necessary such as doing an aftermarket disc brake conversion.

I have just one factory wheel that has gone bad, the adjusting reataining nut, and flange is bend to hell, Should I go green bearing set on both wheels or just one, or replace both even though drivers side is fine?  Whats you take?

John_Kunkel

If you do decide to go to the Green bearing you have to replace both, you can't run an adjustable bearing on one side and a non-adjustable on the other.

Has anyone had axle come out because of bearing or green bearing failure???

Yes. I don't know why as these bearing have been used for many years on truck axles that lasted longer than the rest of their drive trains.

Many members here are using them without trouble, but,,, some have. I installed them in my last two 8.750s. No trouble...
