stopped by my local dealer on saturday and asked about the new chally. looks like they will sell for 52,900 ... :icon_smile_dissapprove: guess that kicks me out of the running. wow they told me that they would get 3 of them in and one is already sold. sounds like its off and running. good luck to the rich...Tom

bull

Wait a few years until all the BS and hype dies down. They'll get cheaper (if Chrysler stays in business :P).

Troy

Just take retail and add a $15-20k markup for the dealer - at least until the hype wears off and they begin to sell like a normal car. In the near term it seems like it will be difficult to buy one anywhere near retail price.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Technically the first SRT's are '08's.

The 08's are base MSRP plus taxes arounf 42-43k.  SO, that said, your dealer people are wanting 10k more.  They must be throwing in 3-4 of those pine-tree air fresheners...

Now watch what you say or they'll be calling you a radical,
      a liberal, oh fanatical, criminal.
Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're
acceptable, respectable, oh presentable, a vegetable!

 for 10 K they had better throw in a couple of hotties and two tickets to van halen. but I was just wondering what was happening out there in the real world. :2thumbs: thanx guys :coolgleamA: Tom

I believe the typical mark-up is 15k-20k. Most people that are interested it seem are waiting for the initial hype to wear off..

Uhm so having a new (probably collector) car doesn't make you a car guy? So the only "real" car guys according to you drive old cars? Why is that, because they break down more often and have to be fixed more often? Just look at the new Chargers, they seem to have a pretty good following, most of whom do modifications to the car to personalize it. Those IMHO are car guys, but also the guy that doesn't modify it (maybe because he likes it just the way it is) but shows interest in the car and goes to the shows is a car guy.

The new Creeders don't have much following at all. That's why when you look at Ebay there is a page or more of just Creeders the dealers can't sell and are dying to unload . And no , just bolting on a set of 20 inch spinners doesn't make you a car guy if you can't even check the oil IMHO .

I think there is a nitche for everyone in our hobby.  I see the young kids with the tunner cars and wild audio video set ups, not really my think, but I still consider them car guys.  There was an older guy at a local car show, he was verry nice and wanted to know if we minded if he parked his 06 charger with my 68, my friends 73 Cuda and a 70 RT Challenger clone.  We rolled our eyes a bit but let him join us.  I would guess he was about 65 or 70 and ended up being a real car guy.  He had owned several cool cars, 57 Chevy.  67 GTX to name a few.  He said he really liked cars but just did not want to wrench on them.  I would spend a weekend talking cars with this guy anytime, and I do believe he is a car guy.  O yeah!  He probably pays some one to change the oil in his Charger.

My understanding is the 2008 Challengers are being produced in April/May and then the 2009 will start being produced in June/July in normal quantities. Wait a couple of months and I think they will be as readily available as a Charger.
