Im into year 3 or 4 now on the body resto.....car should be painted soon, Id love to be driving it this summer. Not really sure how much time putting the engine bay together, interior/wiring, glass and all lines (fuel and brake) are going to take me. ive restored my grill, engine, tail lights, dash. Done all new brakes and suspension....Somtimes I get so overwhelmed. :brickwall:

No, its paying for paint and body work that takes the most time...  :-\

Assembly is always faster. :Twocents: paint and body cant be rushed do to the materials. if you rush the materials you will end up with shrinkage etc , where with assembly you can go at any speed depending on having the parts there and ready to go on.

Plus any decent job requires lots of fine tuning. The body can appear razor straight until a gloss finish hits it.

only because its the one thing I put off the most.  I hate body work and all the prep work.  Prep work sucks.

If given the choice, I'd much rather have extra man-hours going into the sheetmetal work than extra hours into the paintwork.

It seems to me that paint and body work is at least half the project. At least I hope so at this point.

The body work and paint did take a lot of time but I was not expecting to spend as much time on reassembly as I did either. Make sure to keep close track of what parts you need and what order they need to go in as one small part can hold up a lot of other things.  :Twocents:
