Chris' '69 Charger R/T

1969chargerrtse

This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

They only made 31 huh? I still don't know where he gets that from. Even if he is supposedly quoting Galen.

How many does the registry show? 44, then tack on another 3 HEMI RT's. And if you want to get technical the 500's and Daytona's are both factory R/T's, so including HEMI's and 440's of both of those you can add on another 39.

Maybe its one of 31 that are AT on the floor. Everybody wants to have a rare car, so there is always a way to break them down to just 1 of a low figure.

I personally like this statement:

after "1969 DODGE CHARGER RT" ......  he writes:

"(Yes this is the Dukes of Hazzard Year)"

really?? .....a '69? - - geez, I thought they used a '73? ;)

It's a GREAT car for the $3,000 grand initial bid..... I wonder what the reserve could be?  :scratchchin:

I find it amusing that Mopar resto guys (or sellers....investors?) are so anal that they'll breakdown the build of their car to irrelevant codes to make it more "rare" than the next one.....IE: one of 2 ever painted so and so color, yada, yada......

Nice.  :rotz: :slap:

Hey look....there's one of them 31!  Hey Ty

Hi Chris,

I checked my car again to see if the fender tag had also majically changed to R4 from R6, but its still R6, just like yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that............. ;)

BTW is that car R4 or R6?  It looks R6 on the trunk lid to me. :scratchchin: :shruggy:

OH there are plenty of Mopar guys who like to think of their cars as 1 of 10 or fewer. And many do it by getting down to the most miniscule options on a car. IE 1 of 10 cars that are R4 red, white interior, black tail stripe, AM/FM radio, 2 speed wipers, and a 6 way seat.

My '69 is one of one. Its the only one like it with the certain pattern of rust and the cause of it :D

He didn't say "only 31 made". He said 31 known to exist as per Galen's registery.

Since Chris' 69 Registery already has 44 registered the 69 Registry has already surpassed Galens Registry in this regard and is now the "higher authority" in this matter. Although likely unrecognized because Galen is a media darling. Same as the 70 Charger Registry, I have no doubt we have more 70 Chargers registered than Galen does.

I asked this guy where he got that figure and he said they only made 31 in R4 red   :shruggy:

I see people breaking their cars down to 1 of 1 status all the time. Usually its the 318 crowd.

I think in their mind that rare=cooler......it doesn't. A cool car is a cool car, regardless of rarity. A plain-jane Belvedere is just as cool "looking" as a GTX (same car really), even if it doesn't have the performance, (and that's an easy fix! :icon_smile_big:)

According to this auction, the Registry is smokin' Galen.  Our 1983 cars registered to his 545.  His numbers are lower so is it suffice to say his customers' think their car is "rarer"?  :scratchchin:

http://www.russoandsteele.com/collector_car/1970_dodge_charger_r_t_coupe/7702.html

This car is more than loaded with power steering, air conditioning, power brakes, shoulder harness, and upgraded AM/FM stereo. The exterior of the car is the gorgeous and rare color, K5 Dark Burnt orange. The matching interior is also a rare K4 Burnt Orange. The car was decoded by Galen Govier, and is a find at number 507 of 545 in Galen's registry. The Vin# of the car is: XS29U0G248450, and added to all of the above, the car only has 97,000 original miles on it.
