G'day guys,

haven't got a manual and needed a quick answer.....would my 383 (1968 HP block) have solid or hydraulic lifters ? Are they the same for all Mopar V'8, both small and big block ?

I thought I'd ask rather than ripping the valve covers off and stuffing a gasket. :2thumbs:

Thanks,

Peter

since 69 I think all were built hidraulic lifters and non adjustable rockers! but maybe that 68 engine was built to a 69 car ?... dunno

anyway is pretty easy to check before lift up your valve cover... remove oil cap and check... should it be visible: rockers will tell you ;)

Thanks guys,

I'll take the tappet cover off to make sure. It's a pain here though because there's not heaps of places that sell valve cover gaskets for big block Mopars.....that's why I was hoping for an easy answer.

Ghoste

383's were all hydraulic cams.  In fact, I'm pretty sure the only big block Chryslers that didn't come with hydraulics were the Max Wedge engines.
