Hmmmmmmmmm!! Headers and exhaustsystem, maybe? New shocks if there are some cash left.
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

1st_charger

tubular a arms for more adjustment, firm feel stage 2 box, and C-body tie rods! thats my plan anyway as soon as I get the extra $1000. Anything left would go into a special savings spot for a gearvendors!

gordo1968charger

already did all them(apart from the tubular arms)
i meant general underhood items such as msd 6al box etc

If you are just talking about bolt ons for little more performance and/or reliability then yes, I'd look at things like electronic ignition, headers, fuel pump, carb.

dukeboy_318

might also through on a aftermarket intake and cam on top of all of what ghoste mentioned :Twocents:

torque conv and rear gears

Please tell us exactly what you have. A 318 would mean you would want a $1000 440. If its a 383 with a 2bbl and a 2:76 gear then headers and exhaust. Then get rid of the 2:76 gear. If its got a 3:55 gear and an old 4bbl then go with a cam and converter. Give us all your particulars.  And pics. Must see pics.
If it ain't wide open; it ain't running.        Rule number one in motocross racing: Pin it; row the gear box; and wait until you hit something.     At work my motto is: If you need me, call someone else.

suspension?   horsepower gains?   intake and carb and exhaust and cam,  or maybe just go for the new aluminum heads and a used high performance intake, around a grand for that,  maybe 1100,

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

Cam swap, carburator, electronic ignition upgrade with a curved distributor to match the rest of the build.  :icon_smile_cool:

Does the car have HP manifolds on it now ? What type of exhaust system ? Pipe diameter ?

Yep....that allways helps a lot with the right  cam profile....allthough the stock 11in 383 converter will stall ~2400.  :2thumbs:

Nice looking car.  You already have a lot of sweet performance upgrades on that car,  I would rather have all that and a stock engine than the other way around, as a starting point.     With those upgrades firefighter gave you (impressive he made that list with links), your car will be bad to the bone.     torker, holley, voodoo, msd
wait til you hear the engine with that cam, then pound on the throttle down the road      :drive:

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

forgot to mention it already has a torker intake and electronic ignition conversion.
Ron what you do nt know about mopar engines you could write on the back of a postage stamp.

say i stroked my 383 with the 438 kit from 440 source, stuffed some aluminium heads on,with a nice cam  and carb what horsepower are we talking about?450 maybe?
keeping  my options open at the minute while i save some more cash, just wish i could earn it faster than the wife can spend it.

Now you're talking !  :icon_smile_big: Obviously the carb choice would change as well as the cam most likely. Yep, 450hp/500tq would be a walk in the park with that type of build.  :yesnod:

gordo1968charger

would it be a waste of time fitting a new cam and aluminium heads, say later this year, then stroking the motor next year when money is a bit more plentiful or would it be best doing it all at the same time??
68 charger+4 kids=2 jobs

Steve P.

If you are really planning to stroke the motor next year I would wait on the cam and heads.  You need to start with a good plan and keep to it.

Most times the cam you would chose for a stock stroke will be different than a good choice on a stroker.

Exactly...the longer stroke and larger displacement will want more cam. If you go with an aftermarket head you will also want to chose a gring with more high lift area to take advantage of the better cylinder heads. With a stock head that hasn't had the guides trimmed down you will be limited to .510 valve lift.

The cam profiles would be different from the mild 383 to the hotter 438.  :yesnod:
