You guys are killing me! I am just about ready to fire up my 440 with the Stealth heads. All I need now is a new power steering belt. Picking that up after work. I should be able to turn the key tonight if all goes well.

Yah, you probably are - Mine will be a while.  I just got my bi-weekly budget infusion and ordered a wp housing, wp, balancer, windage tray, oil pickup, and pushrods.  Still need oil pan, rockers, valve covers, distributor drive, flexplate, torque converter, starter, intake, intake elbow, injectors, throttle body, fuel rails, fuel pump, oil pump, headers, and lotsa gaskets and bolts.......  And that's just to get it to the engine dyno!  The car's still in the body shop with no rear or front end, the rear end is built but in storage 100 miles from the body, and I'm planning to do an alter-k for the front.
At $300 every 2 weeks (plus an infusion of $1800 about 3 times a year - next one is in may), it's still got a long time to go :)

Does anyone have a recommended header gasket to use with these heads?

I took the beast for a ride today and WOW  :woohoo: :woohoo: .. What a difference. The old setup was the 906's with the cam advanced. This setup has the cam at 0 and the stealth heads. and there is a MAJOR difference in power, I love it.. I still have some timing adjustiment's and jetting to do, so there is room for more improvment..  :2thumbs:  I just thought I would share that litttle bit of info.   ;)

mally69, I know I've seen your engine combo somewhere but I can't find it. Can you post your engine combo. Alan

Sounds good...

Thanks. :2thumbs:  Sounds a little different in person, my cell phone made it sound distorted .

Hey Mally, What type of exhaust are you running?

I have 3'' exhaust with an X-pipe and flowmaster delta flows mandrel bent from headers to rear. Has a very distict sound.  :2thumbs: :2thumbs:
Here is one from last year.

I knew it! That sound is just awesome! There are waaay to many people who say the flowmasters dont sound good but
that sound clip you posted is just down right sweeeeeet!

Okay, I got it running tonight. :boogie:  Had to do a little tuning to the Holley to get the idle to smooth out. (If you ain't constantly tuning it, it ain't a Holley) Tell me how it sounds guys. Don't make fun of my hat, It's still friggin cold up here!   :loser: BTW I just joined you tube to upload this video so I don't know if it will work right or not.

What's with the goofy hat that guy is wearing ?

Sounds nice and smooth Paul....can you say Sleeper  :icon_smile_big:

The Stealth heads move a lot more air so you will have to jet up the carb....that is a given.  ;)

Nice work  :2thumbs:

Mally, what gear, stahl and rear tires are you running? That burnout was awesome. Tranny shifted all the way to third and kept annihilating those tires.

mally69, your combo is almost the same as mine, but I have trw flat top pistons. I didn't think you could run the dome pistons with the stealth closed chamber heads. What do you think you have for compression with the stealths and dome pistons. I think I'm going to get a set of those heads too, it sounds like they really woke up your motor :2thumbs: Alan

The 2295 domes work fine with a closed chamber head because they sit approx .050 below deck unless the block has been heavily milled. Piston to valave clearance is somewhat limited with that piston/head combination but the cam Justin is using has lots of clearance. His compression ratio should be in the 10.3-10.5 range depending on the tolerances.

A flattop piston close to zero deck is a better way to go than the dome and at zero deck with a flattop you will be in the same approximate compression range and it will run fine on pump gas.  :yesnod:

:iagree: :iagree: with Ron.   Yes, those heads made a huge difference compared to the the 906's   ;)  I am satisfied with them.

Got home from work today and took the car out for a ride. I gotta say the heads made a HUGE difference. It pulls like a freight train. More so in the upper RPM band now. Those heads were the best $1100 I have spent. The seat of the pants-o-meter tells me I need to get to the track this summer and see what kind of times it will run.

The exhaust note has changed also. Has a bit more growl to it than before.

mally69,Paul G, did you guys install your stealth heads stock ( out of box ) or did you have them cleaned up or any porting done. I know you guys probably said what you had done to the heads but this post is so long I thought it would be faster to ask than read back on this post. Thanks, Alan

No problem. Mine are installed right out of the box.. :2thumbs:

Out of the box. Gave them a quick look over, test fit a gasket, bolted them down.

Yes, I like my flowmaster's they sound great. I know mine are on the restrictive side being chambered delta flows but oh well.

Congratulations guys  :2thumbs:   It's good to hear a couple of success stories

I'm still waiting for mine to show up  :RantExplode:   Of course, It'll still be a month or more before my new power plant is up and running anyway... I haven't even ordered the rotating assembly yet.
