I was thinking about getting a bike again. Its been 15 years from my last bike and I have the itch big time.  I was thinking about a custom chopper but wanted to know if anyone else here has one or rides them from time to time.  What are they like on long rides?  I am 40 and I worry about my back.

Drove a friends BIG DOG chopper and had not for 15 years....  :rotz:  It was ok.... I just had not been on a bike for a long time.  have to say back did not give me an issue but was not a LONG trip.

Not a chopper but a 2001 Sportster I modified and sold a couple years ago.

dude thats nice.  I need a bike bad. I got the bug for one. And when the bug hits me its all I can think about.  I had one type of bike or another all my life till I got married then sold the last one off and never got around to wanting another one.  Saw a chopper a month ago on the road and then "BAM"  it hit me like a ton of bricks.

I borrowed my pals old 74' Harley Chopper for a few months and it was rough on long trips. It did not help that it was a hard tail I guess, but it was more like a weekend warrior, cruise 10 miles to the  beer garden type bike.  :Twocents:

Bear in mind, that this is just my  :Twocents:  I wouldn't ride a chopper if you paid me. It would be a nice conversation piece in my living room maybe, but I'd never ride it.
My bikes need to HANDLE. A chopper design is going completely the wrong way in the handling department & cause way too many pucker-factor moments for my liking. Even though my current bike isn't known for it's handling prowess by any means, at least I know I can throw it into a high speed turn & expect to come out the other end without the forks wrapped around my nuts. :icon_smile_tongue:

Choppers are nice to look at & that's about it. Carry on. ;D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

HUTCH,

Dont buy a bid dog chopper.  Bike was nice and fun to ride but any length of trip I would rather be in a converible......

I loved the bike and have only  a  pic on my phone.  Only reason I drove it was so the guy who owned it did not.....he was hammered at the bar....

I backed off the chopper. Going to look into something else.  Thanks for the feedback guys.

looking at Honda crusers now.  Something I can ride some distance and not deal with back issues as much as I think i will get out of a chopper.  Plus the chopper had my wife a bit worried.

I am going to check out a 2005 Honda Shadow Sabre this weekend, similar bike, the Sabre is a 1100 CC bike. :yesnod:

You'll like that VTX. Definitely easier on the back & will have plenty of power for 2-up riding on long hauls.

I'd pitch that windshield...but again, that's just me. hehe  ;D

Thant VTX does look nice.A windshield is must for me.Twocents:
