RD and I were working on my transmission (RD is awesome) and we were talking about whether the 71 Superbee's came with optional r/t tailights.
Does anyone out there have a Superbee with factory installed r/t tailights ? Thanks.

with color keyed (painted) bumpers. Louvers are black instead argent ( like 72 rallyes )
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

yes, only the colored ones btw nacho, that's a awesome display/explanation of the third gen tailights! i had no idea that 73-74 se charger's had slightly different tailights to non se models  :2thumbs: you learn something new everyday here

just the chromed housing and silver outlined on lenses... similar to 72 SEs but outline on 72 SE is an extra trim, and chromed area on housing is not complete.

I did that image to same purpouse on 3rd gen board. Was made long time ago for another member on the old board D-C.com. I just remade it with another better images ( inlcuding my car :D )

I always thought my Bee had R/T or Rallye taillights...  :o
So the taillights could have been taken from another Bee, or there was some kind of mistake at the factory (don't have the coloured bumper)...  :icon_smile_big:

ACUDANUT

From what we now know, not unless it had colored bumpers.

Never say never with Ma' Mopar...  ::)
But I suppose the taillights come from a '72 Rallye and the doors from a '71 R/T.  :scratchchin:

...Probably so.It was(is) pretty common to for 3rd gen owners to replace taillights, well becuase they looked  nicer and at one time there were alot of Charger 500's out there that really nobody wanted that had the louvered tallights as standard equipment.
1971 Charger R/T   GY9 Dark Gold Metallic, V1Y Gold Top, GY4 Light Gold Interior- A/C, Rimblow, PW, Front Disc, AM-FM, Tach, Light Package, Slotted Tips, Trailer Tow Package(MIA)and a few other odds and ends...including a luggage rack!

I got a pic of this Bee up in Elkton, and it has r/t tail lights. It was an awesome car!

71 Bee Man

As stated.......to my knowledge the R/T and 500 style lights were on Bee's with coloured bumber group.......doesn't stop me from STILL LOOKING for a reasonable set for my Bee.

That's a hint by the way. :icon_smile_big: :D

Unless you're the original owner of the car or you're confident with a total history of the car, then one can't be 100% sure they weren't swapped out early in the car's life by a previous owner.. But, like you stated,,,, things happen...........

I have no proof at all, I got her in '97.  ::) That was just a suggestion...

In this thread http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,33793.0.html , we can see a '71 500 with black taillights.
In the picture posted above, the 500 taillights are silver. So... should they be silver or black? ::)
Thanks.

1972Rallye

On a '71 Charger 500 with chrome bumpers, the bezels should be argent (as pictured in Nacho's awesome taillight essay).  It was common for them to be repainted black... or the wrong color argent.  :2thumbs:
