rebuilt engine has sat for almost 2 years

I purchased a car almost 2 years ago. It came with a rebuilt 400 block.
The engine was completely sealed, and kept in an insulated garage.
Not sure if this is the skeptics view or not but I just had to pull a head and make sure everything looked new and fresh. It turns out eveything looks good.
So now I am putting it back together with a new head gasket, clean all surfaces, molly on the bolts and some oil in the cylinders. It will be sitting for another few months before I fire it up, so I don't want to risk any rust.
My question is.
Should I just put the thing back together or should I pull the other head?

Since your that far I would get a good set of gaskets and do both then you will have piece of mind. Unless someone thinks you can reuse the gaskets. I never been in that predicament.

If it was me. I'd put more lube on the cam and lifters, make sure the lifters spin freely in their bores.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

Since I took off one side allready, I guess it would be sensible to just take off the other and the valley gasket, then I could go ahead and do as you suggested.

Heath, i would pull both heads and fog the cylinders with WD40 then reinstall the heads with a set of steel shim head gaskets (boost compression). You can rotate the motor over with a breaker bar to spread the lube around.  :yesnod:

Leave the intake manifold off and just before you fire it up....lube the lifter bottoms with moly paste. Prelube the motor with the priming tool/drill just before the initial fireup and follow the normal breakin procedure. Use a good diesel oil and a bottle of EOS or Comp Cams breakin lube. I would allways run the EP additive considering the quality of the oil that's available today....this will prevent a cam/lifter failure.  ;)
