another simple question... is there any large downsides to stroking a motor, would it be recommended if the motor is going to mostly be used for the street?

No real down side other than fuel and tires. It just making the engine bigger which means for power. :2thumbs: That is what most people want

A longer stroke means more stress on the main journals. Not really a problem with the BB Mopar AFAIK
You're giving up high end horsepower for low end torque. This is usually not a problem for a street brawler but if you're racing it might be an issue.
The engine won't spin up as fast.  Mind you most of us replace the heavy factory components with lighter parts when stroking a motor so this point is cancelled out.
if you're racing a specific class, you might be putting yourself over the displacement limit.

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

overall, there really is not a major downside to this IMO... the downsides "associated" with this are from a bad selection of the engine block to be used, make sure it sonic tests good.

OttawaCharger has some great points.

lastly, it goes back to the old saying... no replacement for displacement!

440 source has good stuff i just bought the 440-512 kit. And i would buy from them again hands down and still do.

I like to maintain some rod ratio , it reduces side loading on the piston & stress on the rod & should make more torque & milage in a street engine , the 440/512 has a 1.72 rod ratio which is excellent as well as a lot of mass removed from the rotation assy
