Reproduction washer bottle woes

Highway by the Sea

I recently bought one of those long-awaited reproduction 73-74 B Body washer bottles that fits the Chargers, Coronets, and Satelittes/Roadrunners.  It is quite nice, and they have even shortened one of the mounting tabs so that it seats at a slight angle and does not rub against my dual snorkel air cleaner.  Only one problem.  The glue that holds the top on it had come loose when it arrived in the mail.  :RantExplode: I wrote to the seller and he said that silicone should hold it on.  I tried this, but it did not hold on the plastic at all.  The seller adviced me that others like mine had also come loose.  I wish I could contact Chrysler and have them advise me, since this is their manufacturer's defect.  These new ones' tops  do not fit "Tupperware-like" like the old ones did, instead they just sit unsecured without glue of any type. Anyone else have this kind of problem and know of a glue that will hold?

Try gorilla glue. It is water activated and it bonds almost anything.

Return it.  The first ones produced did not use the correct glue.  The lastest ones are fine.

Highway by the Sea

I cannot return it to the seller because I think that his "guarantee" time has elapsed.  I wonder if Chrysler will take it back as a manufacturers defect.  I did not know about the "wrong glue" issue.

I ordered this off EBAY.   It was in fact Hoover Auto Parts.  Yes, that ID is familiar! Is this rob1426 the same? I thought that Chrysler remade these!

anyway I can't understand about the GLUE stuff... why if they are repro, don't fit like you said "tupperware-like" ? aren't they using one original to get the right cast shape ?

I also thought that this was strange.  It may have something to do with the mold being changed for the shorter mounting tab (as I mentioned previously).  The original one that I had on my 74 Coronet fit "Tupperware-like" so that it did not need glue  Glue is a bad idea, because if the washer pump breaks, then you have to crack open the bottle to replace it.

Nacho-RT74

not really, pump meets with filling hole, and you can use a large socket.

Cruise controls washer bottles are just posible on that way, same as 71/72s

I dis-agree on a 73-74 Bottle - the top must be removed to access the pump

Nacho-RT74

yes you are alright, I was confused!! sorry.
