What Torque Converter for my 727 re-build (for the 512 build)

The Turbo Action 11" Street Hemi Torque Converter had come recommended. In speaking with Summit, though, they said that would probably only have a stall just over stock (2000?).

It had been advised here that I get something with a range of 2800-3000. Summit recommended the TA 10" S800 Street Converter. The book had no rating on stall, but they guessed it was in the 2500-3000 range and the book said up to 290* advertised on the cam. I will have 291/298 advertised.

Any advice?

Better yet, if you're interested in a TA converter call TA and get their recommendation for your combo.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Phone Paul at Turbo Action, (904) 741-4850.  I'm thinking you'll be happy with a 17805ST (ST means tight, less slippage at part-load, but flashes up at WOT)

Cheers,

:iagree: A tight 10in Turbo Action converter would be my choice.  ;)

An 11in hemi style converter would also work but a slightly smaller converter will be more fun !  :icon_smile_big:

...forgot to mention the need for a deep rear end, 3.73 or 4.10 for that kind of stuff.

Big cam and high stall needs lots of gear (that's why I'm still hanging on to my old-school "bucket of rocks"  .509 purple shaft...'cuz I like the sound!  :D)

Thanks guys. I ordered it. I also ordered that Engle cam you spec-ed, Ron. Also in the mail is my 512 stroker kit, Yehaw! They were so busy at 440 Source taking calls for their new heads it was tough to talk to someone there!

Yeah, I talked to Paul at TA. He's really helpful. The 10" Street (tight) was exactly what he recommended after I gave him my setup.

I'm really excited now, but I'm sure somewhere along the line there will be some kind of problem, it never fails.
