"The sinking produced a footnote in automotive history, as it resulted in the loss of the Chrysler Norseman, an advanced "one-off" prototype car which had been built for Chrysler by Ghia in Italy. The Norseman had been announced as a major attraction of the 1957 auto show circuit. However, it had not been shown to the public prior to the disaster, and was lost, along with other cars in the Doria's 50-car garage including a Rolls Royce."

Sorry, a bit of a tangent here regarding the Norseman... I bet it looks better than the Belvedere that was buried in Oklahoma City.

what i found interesting about the norseman was how close it was to the charger, but ten years prior...
a two door hardtop, fastback, hidden headlights, a Hemi, four bucket seats... even the detail work like the grill looks like a first gen... look how clean it was for a '50's design... not alot of pictures of it exist,.. I wonder what the Interior looked like?..
i guess the DNA filtered down...

i decided after viewing most of the site it's simply too graphic to link to...   :-\

Did you see the info about Linda Morgan, a 14-year-old girl who survived the shipwreck? While asleep aboard the Andrea Doria when the two ships collided she apparently flew out of her bed and landed on the on the deck of the Stockholm with only a broken arm to show for it. Talk about a rude awakening. :o Check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linda_Morgan
