So far I've been lucky (or really boring) - - I can't think of any disasters I've had with my cars ...knock on wood.....I'll even knock on simulated wood.  :icon_smile_wink:

How about a near sorta disaster :smilielol:. I dont remember what we were doing but the car got away from us on a small hill. The first thing that popped into my head was the story about that guy's '68 that got away down his driveway (like my '69 was doing) and hit a tree. Well I grabbed a block and threw it infront of the car (which wasnt rolling that fast) but it was going fast enough that it drove right over the block...it slowed down though and anyways, I jumped infront of it (on the left side) and pushed and pushed and pushed and I managed to stop it...about 10 cm from our driveway sign. It was weird, the driveway sign was perfectly shaped and the bumper was over the sign but the valance didnt touch it :o

last night, i started a loooong detailed post about the specifics of the accident and the specifics of the law suit afterwards... (short story the chick sued me nearly two years later, her case was dismissed by the jury after two days)... anyhow, a friend dropped by unnanounced last night and when i finlly got back to the the post to attach a pic... i guess too much time had elapsed and the messege body was empty...  :brickwall:
It figures because everything related to that incident has been a complete and total disaster... I had posted a complete explaination of that entire episode on the other site,..
but that was like three or so years ago now...

Oh man, how many times have I written something, and I go to attach a picture or two and everthing is gone. :RantExplode:  I just always took it as a sign from God, for stopping me before I put something out there really stupid or boring. :icon_smile_wink:  I learned now to "copy" before I attach, and it all stays there.  :P  ( Hey Brock, use spell check, when I go to check mine, It makes me correct yours too. :icon_smile_big:)
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

You certainly can.  There were many stories on here that were almost disasterous.  Why some people would pick you out  :scope: is very odd, very odd indeed.  Of course though, it is Brian, and if push comes to shove :poke: you,re on your own.  :icon_smile_big:  Sorry.  ( He helps me out a lot) :yesnod:

Try a search for the show on here. It was a long running thread, I do believe it is the 2nd most popular thread that was on this board since the new board anyways.

My first car was a 1972 Dodge Dart. It was a 4 door grandma car, but it had a 318 so I was poud and kept it very clean. I kept the interior including the bench seat clean and Armor-Alled (foreshadowing). After a long shift at my crappy bus boy job I was too tired to put on my seatbelt. I left the parking lot and turned left while accelerating (a little too much). Next thing I knew I slid across the Armor Alled bench seat and ended up against the passenger door. All this while still holding the wheel. This caused the car to turn even further left into a parked truck. It wiped out the hood, both front fenders, header panel and radiator. Now I never take a car out of park without my seabelt.

i had a 69 plymouth valiant that evertime i drove it  would brake i put two clutches  had hooker headers on it backed up the drive way and  hit the curb with the exhaust and bent the headers all up  then  cobbed it together  went over brian house one day and backing out his drive way there was a dip in the drive way and then  the side walk was a little high and cough the flange of the header and mangle the thing had to take a saw to the header then order $1000 tti a body headers which did not fit rite ended up taking an air hammer to them so they would fit rite then found out that the bolt hole in the heads were striped out so i had to re tap them  after that it went on ebay some Canadian guy has it now

bill440rt

I'm sure I've told this story before on my '70 R/T (the one in my picture).
The year was 1997. I had just completed a long, exhaustive 5-year restoration on it. Date codes, bolt head markings, paint splotches, the whole enchilada. We were going to do the big show circuit with the car that year: SME at Carlisle, OE Certified at the 'Nats, etc. We were on our way to Carlisle when the guy who was trailering the car for me decided it would be fun to plow into the back of an 18-wheeler.
Long story short, his truck was totalled, my Charger was declared totalled by the insurance company, & his trailer was fubar. He never kept his word on repairing the car, & I did what I had to do & re-restored the car myself again over the next year and a half with the aid from my insurance company & more close friends.
From now on I do my own trailering. And restorations!
I guess all bad stories have happy endings: we did finally make the big car show rounds when the car was completed again. Still do.  ;)

Hey Tufcat!

Even though it isn't a story about a car you or I owned, why don't you tell everybody what you did to Dad's 69 Charger SE, back in 71 when you were 4 years old!!

I remember it vividly !

THAT was a disaster!
