I've been through hell and back with my car and anything related to trying to get it back on the road.  I plan on writing up something short and quick ( If I can) about some of the amazing bad luck issues I've had.  Some are my fault, some were blessed on me.  Do you have any interesting stories about the car you bought?    Help me feel better about my own nightmare story and show me yours is much worst.   I'll bet there are some real amazing stories to tell out there.  Any regrets, If you could do it all over again would you?   :shruggy:
Don't ask me, I'm not sure what I'd say.  :icon_smile_blackeye:   :popcrn:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

What if the car that you went to look at was WAY nice than advertised? Or are you not wanting to hear those types of stories? I've ran accross a few over the years that were not "as advertised" when I got there. However I've also come accross a few that are a lot nicer than described too.

well i had 3 incidents this summer.
1.. I had a pushrod poke through my factory rocker which ended up with 2 bent pushrods, got that fixed.
2.. Later, I switched to roller rocker's and had a roller break off the one rocker. :brickwall:
3.. Had a champion spark plug break while driving down the road which got stuck in the exhuast valve wiped out an exhuast lobe on the cam. And now that exhuast valve is bent.. :RantExplode:

So, the next move this spring before its on the road I am going to install a set of 440 source's aluminum heads, and ditch the 906's..

Intersting story when i bought the car.

Needed alot, the quarters were actually hangin off the sides of the car, trunk floor was half gone,  the floor was somewhat gone  and the leaf spring boxes were gone inner wheel housings etc..... I paid 2,000 for it. The reason i bought it is becuase it was a real 69 R/T  and that is what i wanted and I let nothing get in my way.. Took 3 years to complete and the guy i bought it from said it was the only car he has ever sold that was actually fixed up. He has a ton of B-body mopars 68-70..

My Hemi `Cuda was in a body shop hit by a Tornado... about 10 days before I was to pick it up freshly painted.

The sheetmetal damage was minimal, but the paint was completely toast... paint and other body shop chemicals were all over the `Cuda, so it had to be taken down to bare metal and completely repainted.  The body shop owner told me that he did not have insurance coverage for customer's cars when I took the car to him... so I had to pay for the repaint.  To top the experience off, he did not do the bodywork as we had agreed to... paint job looked great, rust repairs were shoddy.  A lot of $$$ down the drain.  :flame:

At the time I lived over 300 miles away, having relocated during the original restoration work.  Coming home from a 10+ hour day at work, I saw news footage from a helicopter on CNN showing the areas hit by the Tornado... including the bodyshop.  The roof of the building was gone, but from that height I could only see a lime green blob where my `Cuda had been parked.  It took about 5 hours to get in touch with a friend who had gone to check the damage.  My `Cuda came out fine compared to his Daytona Clone (real 1969 Charger R/T though).

Wow, thanks for taking the time to tell the story and list pictures. I can't believe you saw it form t.V ,and then you had to pay for it.  What did you lose on that, and overall is the car a profit to you?  Hemi Cuda, it has to be, right?

Let's see...

1. there would be the nice inch wide scrape down the entire right side of the car from an overhanging street sign on my way to the Nat's (car was on an open trailer)

2. Then there would be the idiot on the Parkway the I punted in the rear after stopping for no apperent reason... (suspected insurance scam from Newark resident)

3. Then there would be the rocker arm bushings that came apart, got by the FRAM filter ( :RantExplode:) and caused 2 rod bearings to be replaced (caught it before they spun)

4. Then there would be the rod that came apart at 5500 and grenaded the first motor.....

But with all the fun I've had with it...worth every one! :2thumbs:

You always seem to have a great upbeat attitude, BUT!  How did you handle the scrap down the side?  I would have to have gotten therapy for that one  :faint:, blowing a Hemi motor ain't much better.

My problem is I haven't had any fun yet.

That was the one that hurt the most....my first Nat's too...... :brickwall: :flame:

The motor.....Ya live and learn. It goes with the territory. First motor I ever blew up.....might as well make it a Hemi! It's a whole lot more fun now anyway! :D

I bought my Hemi `Cuda in the mid 1980s, so selling it at a profit would not be a problem....  even if I started the restoration over.

::) You know I love ya man.... but the "stolen" story is somewhat fictitious if I recall. Didn't your dad take it to his house ??/ Or something like that??  :shruggy:

The first week I had mine on the road I plowed in to a '95 Cadillac Fleetwood. I was on my way to get something to eat after school and someone pulled out in front of him I locked the brakes down and slid right in to the ass end of his car. It put a hole in my radiator, busted up my grille and put a nice bend in my front bumper. To make things worse after it happened I had a panic attack puked everywhere :puke: and almost passed out.
