Por 15/Chassis saver, or sandblast and e-primer?

Started working at scraping undercoating off on our bee. The underneath of the car is amazing, with not much as a pin hole! It does have some very minor surface rust on the spots that the factory missed putting undercoating on.

This will not be a concourse restoration, just a very nice driver! I think getting it sandblated and the coating it with epoxy primer would be the best, but could a guy get buy with using POR15/chassis saver, and then undercoating over that? That would save the time and money of taking it to get sandblasted, and spraying it.

Here are some pics of the trunk floor for reference. There taken with a cell phone camera, but it gives you an idea.

i'm in the middle of sandblasting my interior floor and will be using POR15 on it afterwards as for the underside im still debating weather to paint it or use POR15  but i'll most likely be using POR15. the POR15 and undercoating  sounds like a good idea to me.

haha, who would that be? You should put mirrors on the shop floor so you can admire your work.

We talked about it again today, I think we're going to blast it. Can you put undercoating right over e-primer, or do you have to have paint on it to?

you could probably get away with that BUT I would paint over the epoxy even if its somthing cheap. :Twocents:

10-4, I'll be sure to give it the Krylon touch    It'll be awhile, plenty of undercoating to scrape off yet!

I had far better results with a DTM epoxy primer.  I had some problems with POR15 and adhesion.

POR stands for Paint Over Rust.  It will be hit and miss on the POR15 sticking to clean metal or epoxy primer.

I'd strip the rust as best as you can. Use a rust converter on the area  and then primer and paint it.
