Anybody ever see this before?

Eric and I started scraping undercoating on the 'bee last night since we got our hoist installed. While looking around I noticed this, a piece of rubber aproximately 1/2" thick sandwiched between the leaf spring and the shock mounting plate underneath. I bet she handled like a dream! Anybody else ever see that before?

maybe added by last owner for noises and vibration isolation purpouse, kinda "upgrade" for comfort...  since 73 Mopars were added two rubber pads adding also diff clamp on top and bottom, same as rubber pads
