I'd like to see what some of you are running for raised white letter tires. There will probably be a lot of BFGT/As and that's ok but I'd just like to see how they look on different cars and also what size they are.

Ghoste

Eagle ST's.

the front tires are off a '70 GSX.

Couldn't get Eagle ST's anymore.  Went with Dunlop Qualifier GT RWL's.

Nope, they are 15x8.5 in the rear and 15x7 up front :2thumbs:

Hmm. Do you think 295s would work on an 8-inch rim?

69 OUR/TEA

 215/70 all around on 15x7.These Firestone 215's run about 3/4" taller than BFG's 215's

If you look around (probably of BFG's website) the company will tell you recommended rim sizes for the tires.  If 295's won't work 275's might and I think they are actually the same width.....Lemme get back to you on that

chargerrt

295/50s can go on 8-10 inch wheels and have 11 inches of tread

275/60s can go on 7.5-9.5 inch wheels and also have 11 inches of tread

The 275 might be a more logical choice for the 8" wheels because the 295s might look a little like a bubble, but it might not look much different from mine    :Twocents:

The rear tires on the picture in my signature are 295/ 50/ 15's  on the car's factory 15x8" rims.   They fit and look good, but with the flares it has more room than most cars in the wheelwells.

You're right. The tread width is said to be the same: http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/specs/radial-t-a/12.html However, one other difference is the overall diameter. The 275/60s (being a 60-series instead of a 50-series) are bigger around by 1.3" so you'd almost think there would be as much or more of an issue with clearance. :shruggy:

Wow Paul, your car is coming along fantastic, looks great.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

I get my chops broken all day long with these weird looking " Eldorado  Legend GT " funky cheap looking tires.  They are on my long list of things to replace.  Probably going Red walls.

chargerrt, that's the exact look I'm after.  Do you know what the backspacing is on your rears?  My new 8.5's are 3.5" backspacing and I'm worried there won't be enough room.  My current wheels are 8" but 4.5" b.s.

...Ugh :scratchchin:,I have 275-60-15-BF Goodrich WL tires on my 15x10 Cragar wheels with no problem,am I missing something?I don't like 50 series tires becuase in my opinion they are not tall enough.I couldn't think of a 60 series tire that would fit a 15x 10... :-\
