I was looking for something else and stumbled upon this "88k mile original, unmolested, numbers matching; un-restored Ford Talladega" ($34500).

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Thats practically in my backyard... DIBBS!

Bad timing for me financially... but it would give me 4 of 5...  :D

Probably won't work out, but I will try to have a look at it.

Is it that cheap?  They don't have the following or general public awareness that the Mopar aero cars do.  They're fairly plain with bench seat and column shift and not quicly recognizable as an aero car at first glance.  On the other hand, it is a 428CJ and not ALL Ford fans lust after Mustangs.  I haven't really paid attention to Talladegas so I don't know.  How about it Ford aero fans, is it cheap?

A nice restored Talladega should be in the $35k - $45k range.  So it's high - BUT - if it's truly original paint and shows well, as time goes on that is still worth something.   I could see it in the high twenties, close to $30 if it's nice.

yea price is kinda hi . nice car . i would dig owning it. Rene
I won't be wronged, I wont be Insulted and I wont be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to others, and I require the same from them.

I looked at the Talladega this afternoon.  Although a very solid looking car, I would not consider it a "Survivor".  The car may have a lot of original paint, but several portions of the upper surfaces have clearly been repainted.  There are areas like around the rear window where there was what appears to have been rust pitting that was painted over without repairing.  No rust holes, but still easily visible at 5 feet...  The car will definitely need a repaint in the future, or constant partial paint repairs.

At first look the car seems quite clean, but closer inspection reveals small flaws that will probably need attention at some point.  For example, the door panels are slightly buckling between retainer clips, bowing out maybe a tenth on an inch or so.

The Talladega is a very solid car, and I would be proud to own it (Uh-Oh... Mopar Board... where's my flame suit... ).  It looks like a typical 10 year old car... not bad for a 39 year old one, but not like a 3 year old either.  I am considering making an offer on it, but believe it should sell in the mid-20s.  Anyone know where I can find recent prices paid for Talladegas?

Doug... any further thoughts on pricing?

Of course, I have my hands full with my C500 restoration... and should probably pass on the Talladega.  BUT, they would look great side-by-side (with the C500 ahead just a foot or two...  :icon_smile_big: ).

Allen go ahead and buy the Talladega, and sell me the 500 for the same price, that way you come out even. sounds fair right?  :nana:

Price-wise, I think you are in the right ball park in the mid-twenties by what you are describing.   I don't think you'd get hurt there.   With Talladegas & Spoilers (also 500's for that matter), there is so much beat to death junk that's been stripped or sitting outside for 20 years, it is not that easy to find a decent car.

69_500

Hey Doug, so where is a beat to death 4 speed 500 at? I want one. :)

Ah who am I kidding I want a lot of things but can't afford hardly any of them.
