Hey gang.....
Was wondering, who else here has a community mailbox in their neighborhood? I know this seems to be the trend in new subdivisions like mine.. I was wondering if anyone's been successful in getting an assigned boxed changed to a closer unit. I have to go clear across my neighborhood to get my mail when two houses from me, there's a mailbox cluster...... Doh !!!!

I'm calling the local PostMaster Monday to start this change, if I can...........

Cheers,
Troy

How old is you neighborhood? Alot of times it's based on a home-build seniority system. Usually I don't think they will change your mailbox because it would mess up the carriers route when they are casing the mail in the office! EVERYBODY, including me, in our family has worked (at one time or another), at the post office :eek2:, so if you have more q's just ask. :icon_smile_big: But, good luck!! :2thumbs:

The 3 towns I lived in since 2002 have all had them. I been lucky enough to always live right next to them though. It is still a pain in the ass when it's raining hard, and you gotta go get your mail.  :P

Thats what you get for having such a nice garage. You see its a trade off, nice garage, walk to get mail.

:nana:

Figured it was coming sooner or later, and might as well be me who says it right?

Well Mr. Danny................   :nana:   I have it all now...............  After the postmaster and her mighty wisdom that it would take an act of Congress to move one's community box once designated, I guess I can run for Congress.............. Going way over her head, I had my box moved Friday, Monday I started picking up my mail two houses over, not at the other end of the subdivision.........   So, there  :hah: Ms. Houston of the Cypress Post Office...............

We have those stupid things in our neighborhood too.  I live the farthest away and I get the stupid letter in my mailbox telling me to clear the snow away from the mailboxes or mail won't be delivered for anyone.  I'm the only one that gets that stupid letter too.  I figured it would be the guy that has the mailboxes in his yard to keep the snow cleared away.  Just like when you have a fire hydrant in your yard.

All that work and you still have to walk 2 houses away? You should probably hold off on running for congress until you manage to get all of the mailboxes relocate to your own property, and make people fill out a time share slip as to when they are allowed to come over and get their mail. Once you get that accomplished, you are more than welcome to run for congress.  :icon_smile_wink:

It was making me feel better though knowing you had to walk to get your mail. Being that I'm already jelous of the 4 speed 500 you have, and man that garage is awsome looking.

Oh,,, It IS on my future agenda. Believe me..... Once the homeowner's association is transferred to the residence from the developer, I'll be pushing the subject..... Of course, HOA's in themselves can be a negative connotation, but since I'm here, I'll try to manage it to my benefit if I can... :)   Of course, there are my constituents as well......... Who wouldn't want home delivery over those stupid boxes.........

Danny, you need to take a little trip to Houston........

Now why would I need to make a trip to Houston? Is there a shuttle getting ready to land?  :smilielol:

Oh, who knows might be passing through Texas here soon. You never know, I might just take you up on the offer to stop by with a trailer and pick up Dana. Oh did I say that out loud?

Community Mailbox's are a great thing because they are LOCKABLE! ....so that nobody can steal your mail. From an appearance standpoint, they look neater than a mailbox in front of each persons house.

sick dawg

Those mailboxes totally suck. Where I live we have our mailbox right on the front porch. Just after 911, the Post Office used that as an excuse to take up all the blue mailboxes to mail things in our area. Now the only mailboxes to mail a letter in are in front of the post office.  Use to have one on each corner of my street.

Last year they tried to give us those mailboxes like you have and everybody fought it. Eventually we won and kept our individual mailboxes. I can imagine it's only a matter of time before they try it again.  My street is about four blocks long and my house is in the exact middle of the street, so either corner would be a two block walk to get my mail. That would suck big time. I feel bad for you!
