How to use External audio devices on 71/74 multiplexer radios ( UPDATE!! )

If you have or think on get a Multiplexer Radio, no matter if AM or AM/FM stereo or Mono Radio with cassette pigtail and want to install an external audio device, the here is the solution to use the original Radio with an MP3 player, Ipod, CD player or discman, even a Cassette walkman.

Here is a diagram about a box that could be attached below the Radio. Soon will be pics as far I get the Stereo AM/FM radio I found fixed:

If you don't find or want a normalized mini jack, and preffer a selector switch:
( toggle switch is an example but you can use any kind for example a round knob selector or whatever you want for a while allways is a double pole/double ON kind )

Hi... just made the converter box... and WORKS!!!

Used a 8 pins female plug ( DIN kind ) because didn't find the 7 pins one, but is the same since every hole matches. Only difference is the center one what won't be used.

Will attach PROBABLY with double side tape to the Radio itself. Plugs will be accesible from the side below the dash ( at a side of A/C ducts ) easy access and won't meet with anything. Will be practically unnoticeable... will post pic once attached

this is the first attemp. If I find a thin but wider lab box, will change to fit side by side both sources ( mini plug and cigar lighter source ) instead diagonally and will hide better the box.

is more visble than I expected due the lab box size, but still a good job. very satisfied, however will keep looking for a thin and wider lab box to get to hide better
