Do I have to use the heater control valve?

I have a 69 Charger that originally had A/C. I'm not going to install A/C for a while, so do I need to hook up the heater hose directly to the water pump or hook up the heater hose as if I was using the A/C? Is there really a difference? Thanks.  :2thumbs:

you will need to run the valve if you want to control the temp on the heater. The other option would be to bypass the heater hoses for now, until later when you hook up the a/c.

I actually have my heater core pluged so it cant leak ...it looks right as the hoses are hooked up and all they just dont flow thru the core.
