Ok well I picked this baby up Thrusday and it was a total of 18 hrs and over 850 miles but it was well worth it. This is a 72 Roadrunner and some guys on roadrunnernest said that I have 1 of 34 power sunroof cars for that year since I showed them the tag before I bought it. And the guy gave me 5 fenders,2 doors, header panel,2 sets of taillights, and some trim and front valance. And I was wondering if some of you bodyman can help me out with some issues on some areas that are rusted and not quite sure how to fix them. Because the inner fender by hinge area has gotten weak and has pin hole so I don't know if I could just spot weld the holes or which I know you guys would recommend just replace inner fenders. Also the inside rocker by door plate has rusted and I think that could easily just be spot welded after cleaned off and just weld grinded down. And today I tryed for 4 hrs trying to get the worn down 340 to stay running but she just can't seem to keep running and dies after about 10 seconds. Because the guy put over 300,000 miles on it and plugs looks good I'm thinking the gas lines are plugged or carbuertor is crap. But pouring gas down the carb is only way to keep her running for a little while.  So if you guys could help me out because I'm going to try doing almost all the bodywork myself in my autohub class and I wouldn't mind to drive her there just doesn't seem possible.

The light is also the brake warning light. Check the brake fluid.

Alright I'll check thanks. Ya she looks bad now but thank god I have two good fenders to put on her and the passenger just waiting to obtain the drivers since I can't stand looking at that door  :eek2:.  And I was wondering if anybody could tell me what size of floor pan I need since theres a hole just under the seat right up front so I was assuming that I need the 3/4s pan.

Sweet! I love those cars! Maybe after the Charger is finished I'll pick one up to work on. I really want a Cuda though but with the prices of Ebodies these days, cant see that happening . If you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for it? :popcrn:

I paid 5,000 for it which to me was a great deal specially since its a rare runner. And that he included all the parts he's collected for 20 years since he's had it since 76. But I paid around $300 in gas just getting her to Iowa.

Huh,,, I drove from Central Florida to Las Vegas with an empty trailer to pick up my 65' Coronet 500. Then returned to Florida. Sure wish I could have done that on $300.00...........  I'll bet I burned close to that much each of the 6 days of travel it took. Then since I had the wife with me we had to stop every 800 miles for the night. Hotels expenses there and back and 3 or 4 days in Vegas PLUS her doing a little gambling+++++.....

You did good....  :2thumbs:

Thanks guys I've been looking for a 72 Roadrunner forever just couldn't find one in my price range.  But I'm going to see if the fuel lines are plugged and change the fuel filter while I'm at it. And when I got it the gas pedal wasn't hooked up so I got throtle spring and the kickdown spring I just borrowed from the charger and now all I need is the bracket that holds down throtle cable. Because all I got right now holding it down is a nut.

I've never seen a 71-74 Road Runner with a sunroof.  That is going to be one sweet car.

300,000 miles? i'd just plan to tear it down before i would run it any more. should be a ton of wear in that engine. god forbid something lets loose inside while you're messing around with it. it is the original engine, right?

I didnt realize you were in Iowa?  Im less than 70 miles from you.

That looks like a cool project.  Do you still have your Charger?  Whats the plans for it now?

Mo Power

Well I might have to let my Charger go to another owner depending on my money. But I'd hate to let my Charger go but a 72 Roadrunner is my dreamcar and I've finally got one. But ya I already replaced the igntion box and she starts right up but the lines are plugged and she can't keep running by going off the tank. So I've took the fuel filter off and that was able to be blown through so it's either the fuel pump or lines. And by the looks of it it's the matching 340 and I have the matching tranny in my storage house since it was taken out years ago. But the lights all work except the power roof but hey the horn works great beep beep :icon_smile_big:. But I have a choice get a 6 yr old rebuild 360 or build the 340 back up again. But looks to be going more with the 360 because I'm on a short budget.
