I bought a repop Z-bar from Brewers.  It's chrome plated.  Was the original chrome or painted or just bare metal?  What about the linkage rods.  What's the correct finish for them?

Any four speed cars that I've owned, the Z bar has always been mostly oily mess, but I think the factory finish was plain steel.  Same with the input rods.

Thanks Ghoste.  Kinda figured that these parts might be bare steel.  I'll have to paint my z-bar.
