Does the voltage regulator mount to a bracket and then mounted to the firewall of a 1970 Charger or is it mounted directly to the firewall? Thanks.

It comes attached to the bracket.  In other words, just screw it on there.

Hmmmm? I remember the VR mounting directly to the firewall in '70, the bracket didn't come along until a year or two later.

Unless changed, the bolt pattern on the firewall will tell; the bracket bolt pattern is narrower than the direct mount.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

the voltage regulator is separate from the mounting bracket  :yesnod:      not sure if  for 1970 they had no bracket , but  got one to fit  when i up graded to electronic ignition , but never fitted it  ::) for some reason  :scratchchin: can't think why now :scratchchin:

I'm confused now too because I thought 70 bolted directly to the firewall??
As John said though, the electronic vr has a lot wider spacing than holes would be for that bracket and that would be a quick indicator.

The 70 voltage regulator has a seperate bracket which mounts to the firewall using the same bolt pattern as a non electronic reg.............the electronic regulator then mounts to said bracket.

I'd like to see a pic of that.

I am planning on mounting my new electronic voltage regulator (just like the one in the picture) at the same location as shown in the pictures (I am upgrading my electrical system).  Now I bet I didn't get the bracket that is shown when I bought the regulator.  Anybody know if this bracket is used on other Mopars of the period.  I would like to look for one at the junkyard and I can tell you right now that there are no 68-70 B-bodies around here.  But bunches of old A and C bodies.  I seriously doubt that you could actually buy that bracket from the dealer at this late date but if anyone knows differently let me know the part number.  Thanks.
