3rd gen hvac interior vent question

And primarily 71-72 owners, is there a dash for ac and non ac cars?  That is to say, do both dashes have the same vents and vent placement in them?

'71 Charger's use different frames for the dash...the left side vent is stamped out in the metal frame for a/c...r/s uses a different insert for the vents...

I filled the drivers side vent hole on my 73 since im not putting air back in it.  Heres a before/after.

Coming more to the point, are the vents on the passenger side above the glovebox area correct for both ac and non ac cars?

The passenger vents interchange between both dash structures....the ducting to the vents are seperate on a/c cars as the heater boxes are different....you need the ducting, vents, heater box, switches, and vaccum lines as well for an a/c car..and all the under hood parts....

Okay thanks.  This initially began as discussion between a friend and myself and neither of us know the 3rd gens very well.  I did notice last night though that the ERTL "Authentic" 71 Charger RT has those ac vents and it's supposed to be a Hemi car.  So much for authentic huh? 
I had the model out so I could show my 7 year old how Air Grabbers work.  Aren't I a good dad?

Only diff between dash frames I'm aware off is the driver non vents cut out, however the passenger side cut out is allways present there, juts covered or filled with insert to the respectivelly setup.

Another diff could it be the holes to warning signals on frame ( reverse and seatbelts if needed ), but those are not big deal.

Don't think is year related, same to all 3rd gens, as far I know. Maybe in 71 were more "common" being last Hemi on those years and tipically HEMI cars with less extra equippment packaged

Wasnt there a "stratovent" option that was more like an upper level fresh air vent?

yes. Use to be just center outlets, and insert was black... at least those the ones I have seen ( web seen, not personally )

The vent layout for the Charger would be the same for the Road Runner then?  Specifically a 1972 model.

Interior are the same between B Dodge and Plymouth. Just diff touch ups, like upper doors panels. ofr course sail panel is completelly dif too
