I just ordered a new set of a-pillar mlds for my 69 charger project. Tony's parts is reproducing them. Seems like every one has the top tab broken off. I cant see paying high dollar for used brittle parts. You might get them and they will break when installing them. Hopefully the new ones will stay flexable for a long time. Thanks! I'll be buying those very soon!

If they are anything like the e-Body parts you'll have a fun time installing them. Mine were way thicker than stock and none of the other trim fit right. I doubt the tab will break but it will bulge the metal piece that goes below the drip rail AND the one at the top of the windshield. Mine also rubbed the door panel with the door shut because of the thickness of both after market pieces. Chargers (69) don't have a hard plastic door panel so this is less of an issue. Hopefully the b-Body parts aren't like this. Be sure to post an update! I need three sets.

I can tell you with all confidence the pieces are really good.  The ones Troy is talking about are the vacuum formed plastic pieces that leave much to be desired, the pieces we did for Tony are injected like the originals.  Really nice parts, trust me on that one.  We did an exclusive on those parts for him and I do not have any to sell.

I guess I  will have to post my findings once I recieve them. Knowing Tony I am sure he must be satisfied befor he would put his neck on the mopar chopping block.

Troy

Yeah, well, his headlight bezels for the Barracuda left a LOT to be desired. At half the price of the others I can't say I was too surprised but still disappointed for over $100. Any way, I'm sure these are nice and I may have to fork out the money for a set myself. Nothing fit correctly on the Barracuda (multiple vendors) so I'm a bit cautious of nearly everything right now. That's my most recent experience so it's still fresh in my memory. When Mike's parts get here this week I may change my tune... ;)

I have a mint set of originals. If you know how to install them, they won`t break. I`m glad Tony has had these repopped though, they are a badly needed part.

So whats the special secret to install them. I removed mine which I am almost 100 percent certain they had never been off and they were both broken.

I've been asking Tony about those for months. Glad they're finally here.

They look like the real deal to me, and at a great price...

That is a great price??? It's plastic that breaks in a place that no one can typically see. You're the same person who thinks the reproduction taillights are too expensive when they are metal, chromed, multiple castings, and include the plastic lenses and gaskets. They are a highly visible part of the car but these are mostly an afterthought (really, who looks at the ceiling behind the seat belt clips?). Just wondering... I have a bit of trouble following your logic.

Yes it is a great price since prior to now you'd be lucky to get a fairly nice used pair in one piece for less than $300. And please, spare me a sermon on the taillights. If I could buy new ones for $135 less than a pair of mediocre used ones you'd have a point.

Troy

I haven't paid more than $50 for a set of A-pillar mouldings (usually $20 or less) yet so I'm not sure where you're looking - or perhaps I haven't checked prices in a while? Maybe I should dip into the stash and eBay the lot of them. :D I *have* spent well over $500 on one set of taillights and $350 on a "driver quality" pair so percentage wise the new taillights are cheaper. From a visual impact point of view the A-pillars are waaaaaay down on the list. I'm not really to the point of needing interior parts for the Charger yet so maybe I'll be surprised later.

Troy, the a-pillar's have been going for some serious cash. Last week on e-bay a set that were unbroken and nice went for like 240.00 bucks. I cant see paying that for a set of used ones dried up and hard like a pop corn fart. The reproductions are a nice alternative for the 165.00. I do agree with you on the tail lights.

Troy

Better to be a seller than a buyer on eBay. :RantExplode: Prices are unrealistic because it's convenient to sit at home and click a few buttons instead of actually putting some effort into finding parts (unless those parts are impossible to find elsewhere - and you've tried). I bought an entire garage full of 22k mile 69 Charger parts for $900 (including a perfect grill, console, dash, steering column, taillights, all stainless, and even the A pillars). I sold the grill for double what I paid for the whole lot so I guess I got the rest for free. :P

But back to the reproductions... plastic original parts are junk more often than not - especially in places where they get sun baked (unlike here). Kick panels are usually nice though! :D The Barracuda door panels were literally crumbling but I'd have used the A pillars if they hadn't been badly dyed. I have larger problems with the vinyl parts of the Chargers so that's what I'm concentrating on for now. I am happy that more parts are being reproduced and I hope the vendors sell enough to keep it up.

I've tried several other local venues for parts, especially early on in my restorations process, but found very little to write home about. What I was able to find by beating the brush and talking to the right people was whole Chargers sitting around (and a couple of them I found good homes for) but as far as parts I pretty much have to wait for the swap meets and hit the wrecking yards (which I do a few times a month). Typically what I find are universal parts off a C- or A-body that will fit a B-body such as arm rests, glovebox light lenses, window cranks, some seat belt parts, under hood brackets, etc. Usually just small stuff that I already have but is good to resell. The last time I made a good haul on local parts was more than a year ago when I got that grille, two front valances and a fender for a good price: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,17816.0.html

As far as nice interior parts, that's more my priority because that's what I readily see, I mean, the A-pillar trim is right there at the edge of the windshield. I plan on driving my Charger when I'm finished so a set of moving taillights is harder for me to see and harder for some know-it-all purist to inspect and pick apart. I might go to as many a two Mopar shows a year and maybe a couple of general, all-makes shows locally so I'm not that worried about my taillights. I will probably buy some from PG Classic some day or buy just the bezels and rechrome my housings, but I have so many other important things to do first, like rebuild an engine and transmission, restore my seats, rebuild the front end, restore the grille, etc., etc.

You guys should just be glad someone IS reproducing parts for your cars period. Try finding nice parts for a 65' Coronet 500 that don't have NASA prices.   ;)

How about a set of tail lights on evilbay that went for $3800.00...  Or a trunk emblem that went for $738.00..

Or a repop tail panel for $2800.00....   Then there is still miles of stainless both inside and out.   :brickwall:

I guess I could have picked a Duster!!   :D

Better take a good look at them and see if the little ends are broken off. 90 percent or better that I have seen at swap meets, e-bay ,ect. are all broken. At swap meets I mention it to the seller and most say so, they will sell.

:iagree:  I was thinking the same thing, mine are broken but you can't tell.  165.00, Oocchh. :errr:  ( no complaints on logic, just 165.00?)
