Took my wife out on the maiden voyage of our Road Runner Resto.
X-mas day nice walk. Come back to the car and it won't start.
There was no signal coming from the key. As I suspected it was the starter relay that went.
Wife said she heard a pop when we stopped the car.
Could it be shorting somehow?

if not coming signal form key then is not starter relay, is ignition switch or plug.

Battery died or loosen ends

fuse link blowed if not power on rest of car

I replaced the starter relay and the car started right up.
I am just trying to know why this happened so i don't have to get it towed again!

then power was coming from  key without problem, but just damaged starter relay ;) that's another diff story...

good you made it

It does have a moving part in there, sometimes relays just wear out and quit for no other good reason.

Why did you have it towed ? I started mine with a screwdriver when it went out.

I thought there was no signal when key was on because I did have a jumper button and it still wasn't starting.
I was also a bit flustered and not thinking real good at the time.
The relay was brand new, but that was what I concluded as we were being towed away.
I put on a new relay when we got home and it started right up!

it's always nice to have a few spares in the glove box or somewhere handy in these cases I have a spare and a few others for these reasons.  :Twocents:
