If Mopar never existed...

If you couldn't choose Mopar as your favorite, who would you choose, and why?  What would make your choice better than the alternatives?

Probably Ford because there are so many of the damned things locally that it's fairly easy to get into one.  Pontiacs are a very close second for me though.  I've always been a closet Firebird fan.

Man, this is a tough one to admit but, if not a MOPAR, I'd have to say......... A 1970 Boss 302 Mustang, Calipso Orange with a shaker hood and rear window louvers. I saw one in a magazine once years ago and that particular photo of it left a lasting impression on me. It was lowered 3 inches in the back and 2 in front and it's stance was just cool. I'm no Ford guy but have owned some in the past. (felt I needed to say that...lol)

I'll 'fess up.  My wife likes old Mustangs.  I keep trying to talk her into an E-body, because she wants her classic car to be much smaller than the Charger.  But it looks like in a few years when the Charger's done, I'll be working on a Mustang.  But my vote had to go to GM.  If Mopar didn't exist, I always kinda liked the 327, 400, 427, and 454, but have never been a big fan of any Ford motors, probably the 351 Cleveland I suppose.  As for rear ends, I guess I like the Ford 9", if a Dana 60 or 8 3/4 don't exist.  But for car bodies, I've always liked the GTO, Firebird, Nova, and Chevelle.  Overall, I'll pick GM if I have to.

If MoPar never existed I would go with AMC or Cadillac. Ive always liked the AMCs especially the Javelins and Gremlins. I wouldnt turn down a '56-'75 Caddy either.

My dad had a '69 GTO Ram Air 3 4spd so I really like those. Here was his GTO :


And I find this GTO really sharp looking


Also, my dad's friend had a '70 AMX, '70 GSX and a '71 Camaro RS Z28 so I really like those. I grew up around the GSX and the Camaro.

His AMX looked exactly like this one:

His Camaro was silver with black stripes. My dad bought a blue '71 Camaro RS Z28 back in 2000 and believe it or not, it turned out to be the TWIN to his friends car. My dad sold it back in 2002.

the 69 gto is what id take (the judge) but to be honest if it came down to it probably nothing! id get into motorcycles.

Lots of good choices there. 66 GTO is probably what I would work toward, But another one that I would consider would be the Gremlin that had the 401 Interceptor engine in it... That thing was FAST, but it had way too much engine for that cracker box body.

I can't imagine a Moparless world , but if I had to, I'd like my 69 RS Z/28  and 69  396 Pace car back.

I was looking for a 67/68 Firebird when I came upon my Charger. I'm still looking for my 67/68 Firebird.

However, I own a 68 cougar...so I could go either way.

Just the Firebird is the one still missing from the garage
