Hello everybody, I've been lurking here for a while, but never had much of a reason to post until now. I just got an email from my body & paint guy saying he is ready to come and pick up my Charger next week and get started on it. I've been waiting for this for about 21 years and 7 months. I've been watching from the sidelines as one member after another posts pics of their newly painted Chargers, and waiting patiently for my "someday" to come. Well, it's finally here. Next spring sometime I will be posting pics of my newly painted MM1 Bronze Poly 68 Charger R/T. Maybe I should run out to the garage and snap a few "before" pics, but if you've seen one primered 68 Charger unibody shell, you've seen them all. For those of you who don't remember me from the old board, I have one of the 211 68 Charger R/Ts built with a 426 Hemi engine and a 4 speed transmission. The original drivetrain was long gone when I found it in a pasture in Frazee MN in 1984. It now has a 1970 440 engine, and an 8 3/4" rear end to replace the missing Dana. I started to collect Hemi parts to replace the missing engine, but I decided I wanted to drive the car more than I wanted a Hemi, so I sold all the hemi stuff I had so I could get the body work done. Maybe I will get a Hemi for it someday, but for now I'll be happy driving it with the 440 in it. It has a black interior, black vinyl top, black bumblebee stripe, console, low-back buckets, tachometer, am radio, manual steering, and the hemi-mandated power disc brakes and 3-speed wipers.

Man! Dennis that's a Loooong Freakin wait...  :P

Great Project from the sounds of it though...

I'd say welcome to the site but dispite the single post you've owned your R/T longer then some members...

Welcome aboard!! I know what you mean about the wait. I waited 2 years just to buy the 68 Charger and that was tough enough. I have the same car paint code (MM1), but without the hemi option. Mine is presently being restored - cant wait!

Gonna be a great looking Charger!! You can start looking for the hemi engine for it later , but you should get one for it . After all , it is an original Hemicar! Hope to see some pics of it all painted soon.
