 Question,
This topic has been covered before im sure but here it goes:

I need to get a radiator for my 71 R/T.It originall came with a 26 incher'. I see radiators all the time but I have no idea what to look for.I like the "Be Cool" but they are too expensive.
I do want to get a alluminum(did I spell that right?)version.

Can someone treat me like a stupid :eek2: person and tell me a part number or something so I can order one,I would much appreciate it! :coolgleamA:

Personally, I think you should do a bit of research yourself and post a few options here.  That way the folks that are well educated on something like this will have something to work with.  Start with looking at what Year One has to offer and go from there.  There is also a spell checker on this site as you did spell aluminium incorrectly but no one here cares.

I would think you could go to the yellow pages and look up the hundreds of radiator shops and just order one for the car?   If your talking numbers correct, then that can be found in some books I would think, or from someone here.  I went through the same issue, I just went to a radiator shop and got a mine recored.  They keep the top and bottom and replace the working fin part. I don't have #'s engine or trani, so why pay big bucks for a correct radiator.  Also, go on ebay, I'm sure something will pop up.  Oh, 3 days after the 400.00 recore, my motor blew up and lurched forward and put the fan through the new radiator.  :eek2:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

I would try Jeg's or Summit. They have some universal fit aluminum radiators that are pretty inexpensive but I don't know if "universal" means it will fit a Mopar. :rotz:

I have an afco aluminum racing radiator in my charger, it cost me 150 bucks 4 years ago. I also installed one of the 200 dollar summit aluminum radiators into a 70 coronet, it went in. But what i did since i like things to fit right, and the universal mounts are nasty looking, I took the radiator to a welding shop and had them tig some aluminum brackets on the sides, then marked where i needed holes and drilled them. now its a bolt in that looks good.

Thanks for the responses thus far. :yesnod:
I have done research on and off for a while and have gotten nowhere.I do business with Jegs and have spoke with them about my situation but the rep talking to me was not well versed on them and really had no clue how to help me.

In a nutshell.I want an alluminium radiatior to replace the 26 inch stock one that was MIA when I bought the car,I really would prefer a direct bolt-in and wanted another option besides the expensive BE-COOL unit.I figured there were more direct bolt- in units besides BE COOL....right? :scratchchin:

If you are looking for origanal part #s, This is what I got.
In 71 There were several radiators used, We'll stick with the 26" core since thats what you said you have.
Chargers with a/c or max cool options with 318ci used part # 2332969 for a/c and 3443970 for max cool.
Both used a plastic fan shroud # 2998326.
Don't know how technical you want to get but different gear ratios use different fan blades and pitch.( five or seven blade)
All 383ci used the same core weather they were 2 or 4 bbl, but they were 22" core  w/o a/c.
These cars with a/c used a 26" core.
2bbl with a/c 3443960
4bbl with a/c 3443940.
And there are many more.
Long story short
If you want the correct part # for your car, I need all the details and I can get it for you.
Hope this helps.

I have an extra one that i'm not gonna use, but its not out of a 71 Charger, i'll have to check the numbers on it if you want numbers matching.

Hey paul,

The extra radiator you have doesn't happen to be a 2949054 does it? If so I'd be interested.

Look into the aluminum radiator from radiators us. http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,37605.0.html I had to file it a bit to fit my 69 but since it is made for a 70-72 it should fit better. It was a good price for a aluminum downflow radiator. If you read the footnotes on the becool radiators the radiators us one is more of a bolt on.

Thanks for the info everyone! :2thumbs:
Hey Blue'

Thanks for the pics.Becuase it is a direct bolt-on and doesn't cost a "gahzillion dahloors" I may order one of theirs real soon!
