Something's off here, or maybe I've never noticed it before

I was looking at this '68 on ebay and noticed something funny about the tail panel. Aside from the missing emblems (and apparently the holes to install them) and the missing bumperettes, do you see something odd about the rear panel? I'll wait for a few responses before I spill the beans.

The trunk lock isn't centered??  :scratchchin:

:yesnod: Yea, WTH? How does it even work if it's not in the right spot? There's some major red flags with this car IMO.

My first thought was the trunk lock not being centered as well.  But then I thought well maybe you meant the primer still showing on the top of the valance?

Obviously this car has been slapped together with a lot of bondo and a cheap paint job for a quick sell.  If you look at some of the other pictures, you'll notice that the hood isn't sitting quite right and the center top of the grill is sagging.  And check out the driver side of the tail stripe.  It looks like its faded already as if maybe somebody held the buffer there just a little too long?  :eek2:

And you know, I'm not totally sure about this, but I think he may have the taillights on the wrong side?

Hey, Barrett-Jackson is right around the corner and you know they'll only get more expensive after that, better jump on this one while you can.  ;)

I'm no 68 expert (by far) but that was the first thing I was thinking, about the odd space left on the outside of both tail lamps, didn't think about tail lamps being backwards, but noticed it looked odd. :-\
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

looks centered to me... i bet it is the guy not taking the picture directly centered that causes for the illusion... look at pic... the line lines up with bumper and lower valance..

I think you may be right, it's the rearview mirror that draws your eye off.  If you draw your line straight up from the bottom to that mirror mount, the whole back end is off.

terrible one

Beat me to it! It's definitely centered looking at the rear valence, etc. Now the primer showing. . .

I think the pic is just not centered. You can see right rear quarter window but not the left side...............wouldn't take much to be off center from the cameras point of view.

Yea, I think you guys are right. That or they're all off center!

I think it's because of all that space between the '68 tail lights. There's no immediate point of reference like there is on the '69s and '70s.
