Quote from: C_stripes on December 22, 2007, 10:35:20 PMAlso.  If you are getting a used car from a dealer. Do a carfax yourself.   The detail biss. sux.  Unless you have done it commercially.  I bet you have no Idea what has to get cleaned up. Here is the top five grossest things I personally have had to clean.
1. (tie) Ford explorer and Mitsubishi lancer, Suicide cars.  Blood and other matter on headliner and other parts of interior.
2. Chevy Impala Exploded baby diaper in trunk of car
3. Dodge Neon, Maggots, Mud, fiecies, and who knows what els.  (former farm car)
4. Chevy Trail blazer, Massive gas spill inside the car,  (NEVER SPILL FUEL IN YOUR CAR!!)
5. More than one car.  Seamen.

Think thats bad?  I worked as a detailer once for a little dealership in my small hometown, and the the owner took in a minivan (supposedly did it as a favor to someone?) that the owners had let their baby die in.  They left the poor kid in there for hours in the summer.   :'(   Anyway they thought I was going to detail it for them.  Needless to say I told them to kiss my ass, and they didnt push the issue...  I couldnt believe they even had the balls to put it on their lot rather than just auction it.   So yeah, I agree, do a background check on cars before you buy them.

MOPARHOUND!

Factory worker left the brush for applying sealer on the interior under the carpet in a 69 GTX.   Best thing I found under the carpet was rock solid floors. :2thumbs:

Removed the seats from a 69 Sport Satellite for board member Rick Keesler to recover.  He found a factory new original seat belt holder thingy that attaches to the bottom of the front seat.

*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."

In a old Chevy truck I found old sex toys, I grabbed gloves and took two showers.

All items of value are returned to the prior owner unless the car comes from a auction.

So, are sex toys considered "items of value?" I think it would be kind of fun to hand those back to the owners, just to see the looks on their faces.

In a 66 Charger I dismantled I found a box of Trojans dated 1972. In a 78 Ramcharger I found two pipes and a baggie of weed. In a old Chevy truck I found old sex toys, I grabbed gloves and took two showers. in a 74 dart sport I found some SWEET shades and a ten dollar bill under the seat.

At work since I am the Detail manager at a car dealer ship.  I find some real odd stuff.  Found drugs, Sex toys and other such stuff, a gun, tools, baby diapers(under the rear seat of a prior rental car). money, PSP and other hand held gaming toys, wedding ring and other jewelry. Credit cards, Wallets,  passports, Titles to cars,  All items of value are returned to the prior owner unless the car comes from a auction.  Also.  If you are getting a used car from a dealer. When I stripped mine out to do the interior, I found all sorts of things: Lighters, coins, reciepts and a lot of ammo for what I think is a beebee gun... (Don't know much about guns)

Chris G.

Haven't taken the interior completely apart, but this was in my vent.

BB gun ammo is just BBs; little round chunks of metal.

Well I hadn't even torn down the SE Charger that I sold a few years ago but there was a can of baked beans that had a date from 1971 on the can that was in the trunk under the spare tire. Someone lost a can of baked beans on the way home from the grocery store, and I'm sure he didn't hear the end of  that one from the wife either for forgetting them.

When stripping the wife's Valiant, I found, roofing tile in the inside bottom of the doors and a 1966 quarter. Tucked inside one of the rear frame mounts was one of those magnetic hidden key holders with two brand new looking keys inside wrapped in plastic as well as some sort of weird key thing. Unfortunately, none of the keys matched the doors so I had to get all new locks anyway.

I was tearing apart a 1978 Lil' Red Express a couple of years ago and found a stack of polaroids of a wet t shirt contest.

This is definitely the "weirdest" thing I found. This is an "After" pic. As in AFTER I sprayed half a can of Raid on the sumb*tch.

I'm restoring a 68'charger.  When I pulled the dash and had access to the firewall from the inside I found up near the corners of the cowl, on both sides of the car, a small blob of what appears to be a hardened putty with a thumb print in it from the person on the assembly line probably assigned the task of sealing the inside of the car.  I thought that was cool.  I didn't take any pics of it but I'm sure this is the case on all of these cars.

bordin34

I found a newpaper article in my 74 that mentioned something about Nixon, change, spark plug, cigarettes, tools, new gum from the 70's

I drove home a repo'd 71 Charger I wanted in 76 from the credit union and started to go through it.  In the trunk was an apple basket full of mag wheel lugnuts and a box of handmade lock pics and keys.  I remember when the stealing of mags were almost more frequent than catalytic converters today.  I've also found some odd stuff that fell between the trunk side and qtr panels.
