What's the weirdest thing(s) you've found when tearing your car apart? I havent found much, just a weird tag and an old American nickel. I found the nickel in the floor boards.

I found an old matchbox car a ford torino I think. a plastic whistle and hair berets.  there was a rigged up lap belt behind the driver so I' m guessing there was a child seat and these were the toys. also lots of pennys 82 cents.

I found razor blades and syringes when I cleaned out my old Coronet after I bought it.  They were under the house carpeting.  :o

I found a fender tag plate with large letters "PW" stamped into it under the carpet of one of my chargers.  The plate was once painted body color and it was a power window car so I guess it was supposed to be there.  It looked like it had been there from the assembly line.

I only really consider the 70 Coronet 500 as it was the only car I ever been through that was totally unmolested. Here is a list of stuff I discovered:

Budweiser beer cap inside of the steering column.

New turn signal lever under the carpet, under the drivers side front seat.

A paper tag for the carpet.

IBM punched card for the trim

WheresMyCharger

The crank handle for the boat trailer I used to tow, I had to have another one fabricated. Years later when I took out the upper rear seat back, there it was!!
Have you seen my old '69 Charger??

When I installed the new carpet set in our cream 66 Charger, I found 10 NOS roof rail drip moulding chrome pieces....the little 45* ones at the top of the "A" pillar....all were scattered under the front & rear carpets.....someone must have spilled the box in there while it was on the assembly line.....got all of 'em tucked away for retirement.....gonna put 'em up on eBay and make my fortune later on....  :smilielol:  :smilielol:

Yea....right!

I had a 69 Charger parts car.  While removing the dash assembly I found an old Kodak film can.  Remember the little
black with grey snap on lid that was just right for 1 roll of film?!  It was full of weed.  I flushed it down the toilet &
threw the little canister away.  I got the car from a junkyard, so I can only imagine how long the stuff had been in
its hiding place.  I wonder how long after stashing it the perp looked for it :shruggy: :nana:

My first 69 R/T, I had to replace the drivers door, it was full of bonndo around the scallops. Taking the door apart, I found several credit cards down in the door, they were about mid 70s I guess, one was an ESSO gas card, with a pic of a GREEN 69 CHARGER (What I was working on!! but mine had been painted ORANGE, THERE'S a SHOCKER!!)

Kinda odd, Wish I had kept the Esso card!

I had a 74 parts car that was beat all to hell.  The car was full of junk and animal sh*t and there were live 22 rounds all over the floor and in the seats.   That car must have had a rough life.  It looked like the car had a blowout at one point too and the rear passenger wheel well was made out of siding from a house.

In a 66 Charger I dismantled I found a box of Trojans dated 1972. In a 78 Ramcharger I found two pipes and a baggie of weed. In a old Chevy truck I found old sex toys, I grabbed gloves and took two showers. in a 74 dart sport I found some SWEET shades and a ten dollar bill under the seat.

At work since I am the Detail manager at a car dealer ship.  I find some real odd stuff.  Found drugs, Sex toys and other such stuff, a gun, tools, baby diapers(under the rear seat of a prior rental car). money, PSP and other hand held gaming toys, wedding ring and other jewelry. Think thats bad?  I worked as a detailer once for a little dealership in my small hometown, and the the owner took in a minivan (supposedly did it as a favor to someone?) that the owners had let their baby die in.  They left the poor kid in there for hours in the summer.   :'(   Anyway they thought I was going to detail it for them.  Needless to say I told them to kiss my ass, and they didnt push the issue...  I couldnt believe they even had the balls to put it on their lot rather than just auction it.   So yeah, I agree, do a background check on cars before you buy them.

So, are sex toys considered "items of value?" I think it would be kind of fun to hand those back to the owners, just to see the looks on their faces.

BB gun ammo is just BBs; little round chunks of metal.

Well I hadn't even torn down the SE Charger that I sold a few years ago but there was a can of baked beans that had a date from 1971 on the can that was in the trunk under the spare tire. Someone lost a can of baked beans on the way home from the grocery store, and I'm sure he didn't hear the end of  that one from the wife either for forgetting them.

nh_mopar_fan

When stripping the wife's Valiant, I found, roofing tile in the inside bottom of the doors and a 1966 quarter. Tucked inside one of the rear frame mounts was one of those magnetic hidden key holders with two brand new looking keys inside wrapped in plastic as well as some sort of weird key thing. Unfortunately, none of the keys matched the doors so I had to get all new locks anyway.

I'm restoring a 68'charger.  When I pulled the dash and had access to the firewall from the inside I found up near the corners of the cowl, on both sides of the car, a small blob of what appears to be a hardened putty with a thumb print in it from the person on the assembly line probably assigned the task of sealing the inside of the car.  I thought that was cool.  I didn't take any pics of it but I'm sure this is the case on all of these cars.

I drove home a repo'd 71 Charger I wanted in 76 from the credit union and started to go through it.  In the trunk was an apple basket full of mag wheel lugnuts and a box of handmade lock pics and keys.  I remember when the stealing of mags were almost more frequent than catalytic converters today.  I've also found some odd stuff that fell between the trunk side and qtr panels.

When I restored my dash assembly I found a folded up square piece of paper lodged behind the glove box "hockey stick" woodgrain bezel. Probably to deal with a squeak when built. I unfolded it and it was an original plant vehicle entry pass for the St. Louis assembly plant from late 1969.

I also found a vintage slim jim in the trunk under the carpet. For breaking into cars?

When I removed the seat back on my 70 Charger to install the Legendary seat covers, there was a hand out from the San Diego School Department dated 1975. It was in typewritten form and copied on an old mimeograph type machine (remember those?) It informed parents of an upcoming aluminum can drive that the school was planning. It said that last years can drive had raised $15.00.

I can imagine a kid riding home from school in the back of a five year old Charger RT, somehow bored out of his mind, and stuffing the letter in the seat.

I still have it along with some other junk that was in there. If I can find it,, I'll scan it and post it.

The weirdest thing i found WHICH IS VERY HARD TO BELIEVE was about 3 pounds of dog food in the head liner
i was pulling the liner out,   and it just started to spill out. i also found that the dome light wire was all chewed up
which means it must of been mice. there was also dog food in the frame rails aswell.
i also found in the headliner a broadcast sheet for a different car and one behind the seat which is for my 68 rt charger
the other sheet is for a dart i believe

My car was full of live and dead cockroaches, big ones. They were everywhere, in the headliner, under the dash, under the carpeting(what was left of it anyway).
I used to own a mopar because it was different, but now I know better.

Those floor pans look pretty good! :2thumbs:

Most people underestimate the rust fighting abilities of dog food crammed in a head liner! ;D

The dog food is easy to believe. Squirrels were bring it in. One car I tore the headliner out of had tons of acorns up in there from them nesting.

yeah the floors are perfect thanks to the rust killing dog food

The weirdest thing i found WHICH IS VERY HARD TO BELIEVE was about 3 pounds of dog food in the head liner
i was pulling the liner out,   and it just started to spill out. i also found that the dome light wire was all chewed up
which means it must of been mice. there was also dog food in the frame rails aswell.
i also found in the headliner a broadcast sheet for a different car and one behind the seat which is for my 68 rt charger
the other sheet is for a dart i believe

Can't beat raining dog food that's for sure. When I removed my headliner I was showered with empty sunflower seed shells. Got to be amazed at the abilities of mice, somehow they were getting up to the sun visor on the passenger side, chewed a hole in the headliner and were living there at some point. On the mice stupidity side I also found a mouse skeleton and sunflower seeds inside the front hood space (at the front where the top skin and bottom skins leave a cavern......mouse got in, bringing food with it.....ate the food.....got too fat to get back out...and dies.

Found a mouse nest with a dead mouse in the headliner.  Still have the mouse as a souveneir.
