I want to try to repair a few of these old switches. I'm finding that some of them lose contact around these rivots or whatever it is they are called. Once I find out what they are, I can probably buy the tool and parts to replace them.

Anyone know what they are called?

Me too, but the guy at the local hardware store said they were called something else, he couldnt remember what and that they took a special tool.  :shruggy:

I have a rivot gun but a regular rivot spreads from the inside where these just basically pein over

They are called Tubular Rivets.  There is a company in California called Hanson Rivet.  They have a web site and are great to work with.  I bought new rivets to replace my grille rivets.  They just came in today and I plan to try installing them shortly.  The nice thing is you can get them in other materials such as stainless to avoid rust.

Please post some pictures of them and the installation process if possible.
