Anyone running Nitto Drag Radials

I am looking at getting the Nitto 555R 305 45 18 drag radial for the Charger. If you have them, how do you like them? Or don't like them?

If you have the 305 45 18 how much clearance do you have? Any? I have 18X10 Boyds with 5.5" backspace. I should have room, just not sure how much.

I am guessing there are only a handfull of members are running these tires. . . Mike maybe one of them.

The Mustang message board guys love them on their Mustangs GT's. Just curious how someone liked them on their Charger.

I have the standard Nitto 555 on my 68 (285 40 18) and I plan on geting the same tire you are look at! I think they are the best looking drag radials on the market! I hope they work as good as they look!

I ran the Nittos on my Charger on a couple of occassions.

They hook WAY better than any regular street radial, but a healthy big block will easily overpower them. They are a compromise in terms of traction vs streetability.

I ran 275-60-15s. I aired them down to 15 psi at the track, but still had to walk out of the hole (stick car).  With some more practice, I'm sure I could have got the 60fts down to 1.7 or so.

The short side wall sizes you guys are looking at will almost certainly not hook as well.

That said, they are a great tire if you actually plan to drive your car and put some highway mileage on it. None of the others has any kind of speed, temperature or load rating making them suitable for extended highway use. I wouldn't trust any other drag radial for extended highway use.

FWIW, I Long Hauled a VERY wet 2007 Hot Rod Power Tour on a fresh set of these with no problem.  I had about 500 lbs of tools and luggage in the trunk too which speaks well to their load rating.

I have them on my Cobra, definitely need to air down to get a decent hook up. Other than that car rides pretty well and you can get them cheap on here

I know this is a really old thread, but curious if you ever put the 305 45 18 with 10" wheels with 5.5 bs on a 2nd gen without tubbing etc.  I am thinking of the same thing and would like to see what it looked like and how it performed etc.  Anyone have any pics?
