From Moparts. Good to see sweet cars being brought back from near death

"Well, it was a big year this year for the T/A project as it now runs and moves on its own power for the first time since 6/8/2001 when it went up in flames from a spark and an electric fuel pump. I purchased the car in late 2003 and have been working on it since. It is a real T/A but since the original drive train was gone I decided to change the color and transmission to make the car what I wanted.

I purchased new carbs from Kevin at Monicatti Chrysler Jeep. He was great help and his great prices really help with the project budget. I added the mopar performance electronic ignition and we hooked everything up. After some fooling with the wires the car started right up and runs fantastic. Unfortunately I have had brake problems which I'm still dealing with. I have very little pressure in the system but the rebuilt proportion is out now and being re-looked at to see if that is the source of my problems. Before I pulled it I had the opportunity to drive it up the street which was very cool. I restored the fenders over the summer and they are now installed. My new bumpers from Tri-city are on and I have working head lights so it is starting to look like a car again!!! Next year I'll finish the quarters (all welding is done), register the car and then repaint the entire car. I can't wait to put the stripes on. It is the best feature of a T/A. Maybe we'll make a cruise night (with no interior) by the end of summer 2008."

If I had my choice of what my next project would be - that would definitely be it! Love the TA/AAR cars, but it's a rarity to find them in "bad" shape... I actually had a beat on one about two months ago that the resto had been started and the guy ran out of money, but for the asking price I could have added $10k and got me one that's done...

After that, though, I decided I'm going to stick with one project at a time and not over-extend myself... so maybe '09... if anyone finds one "in the raw" let me know though!

That reminds me of a beautiful white '70 Chally convertible I used to know of back in the early 80's. Then the guy's ex got pissed one day & started a fire on the driver seat. :'(
I tried to buy it after the fire, but he wouldn't sell. I don't know what ever became of that car.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Sad but awsome comeback story.

Glad to see it's almost there.

EXCELLANT!
