I'd like to see "Rescue From Gilligan's Island" redone with Jim Carey as Gilligan, John Goodman as The Skipper, Angelina Jolie as Ginger, Jessica Alba as Maryanne, Christopher Walken as The Professor, Joe Pesci as Thirston Howell III & Annette Bening as Mrs. Howell.

Should be good.

I wil do you one better:  the skipper, gilligan, professor, and mr howell should also be played by smokin hot chicks.   Also, Pam Anderson should be captain of the rescue ship who's crew is the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders.  Throw Halle Berry as Catwoman in the plot while you are at it.

That would kind of make the fact that they brought more luggage & supplies than they needed for a 3 hour boat ride look a little farfetched, no?

I'd like to see a remake of one of my favorite movies from the very early 80's/Late 70's.  The final countdown.  About an aircraft carrier that gets caught up in a storm and ends up back in time on December 6, 1941 and has a chance to stop the pearl harbor attack (has some one sided dogfight scenes between Japanese Zero's and F14's)  Starred Kik Douglass and Martin Sheen, and Charles Durning.

Another favorite 70's movie that I would love to see remade is Capricorn One.

Also "the philidelphia Experiment"  Michael Pare starred and it was a crappy movie, but the plot is worthy enough to be made into an actual good movie.

I agree, both stories were great.  :2thumbs:  I love any kind of time travel flick, even the cheesy ones.

Totally unrelated, but for some reason this one popped in my head, "Twilight's Last Gleaming" with Burt Lancaster. Maybe because of the 70's movie mention & Kirk Douglas?   :shruggy:  Great story & I remember seeing it in the theater with my dad.

Not sure if I'd list it as a remake though, but I should find it & watch it again since it's been since the 70's since I saw it.

No doubt!!  I see him building a radio out of coconut shells and a piece of wire from  Ginger's sun glasses and a stone from Mrs. Howells , mothers, aunts favorite broach. Of course Gilligan has to rub two palm frawns against the Skippers stomach to create a little electrical power to run the radio... Hahaha..

I would love to see that too.  There are so many stories like that from WWII.  I would pretty much see any film made about anything from WWII.  Such a pivotal time in our history, I am fascinated by it, almost obsessed.....

both good ones, but I would like a different ending actually, where the carrier beats the holy living piss out of the entire japanese fleet and the U.S. gets vaulted 50 years into the future with new techology.

umm... ok... i will stop  :icon_smile_big:

The original is too awesome, but imagine an all-star  "Great Escape" remake:

Steve McQueen --  Matt Damon
"the Mole" --  Giovani Ribisi

James Garner --   the "thank you for smoking" guy
Donald Pleasance  -- William H. Macy

Charles Bronson --  Russel Crowe

Mr. X (Attenborough) --  George Clooney

I did not know that. I have watched the documentaries and never heard that.  Very interesting, but I could see that sick bastard issuing that type of orders to his commanders.

Watch "Dogfights" on the History channel. Not only do they analyitically dissect all the famous plane dogfights and show you phenominal cgi of the view from both cockpits as the battle rages, they are now doing the major sea battles. Just watched the Leyte Gulf episode and it followed the Yamato from her running away at Leyte up to her demise trying to get to Okinawa. And to hear the stories from the guys that are still alive is incredible. The effort to be historically accurate and the rendering of the cgi is jaw-dropping.

They have also done the Hood/Bismarck/hunt and sinking of Bismarck episode. Time well spent.

Not movies for entertainment by a long shot. Just the facts as shown from both sides. Both heroism and blunders are fully portrayed.
