I saw that story on TV this morning too, pretty wild.  :o   I bet the guy is lucky he was unconscious or he may have freaked out trying to climb out & may have fallen.

I wonder if he was trying to drive off the ramp.   :shruggy:

WTF !!! wires 7 stories up  :shruggy: sure they worked on a small car but if that would have been a full size truck i doubt it . i could wire on the first 2 levels but after that reinforced concrete all the up . but them again i guess you shouldnt test the limits of the wires in the first place .  :icon_smile_big:

I bet there's two companies right now bragging about how great those wires are. The manufacturer of the wire, & the contractor who installed it.

Those "wires" are galvanized aircraft cable. Same stuff used to stop jets on carriers! It's hard to tell in the pics, but if that's a 3/4 inch cable it could have a breaking strength up to about 46,000 lbs.  I use it every day at work to rig concert lighting and sound equipment from the roof. Whatever the cable is anchored to may fail before the cable itself.
Just an FYI....

Also, adding to JerseyJoe's FYI, many times these cables are made to break away. These devices are built in a way that it will take most of the inertia out of the crash. Safety harnesses are made in this same way. I don't know that this is the exact case here, but I did some work on one of these systems long ago. They are made to minimize impact. Slow you down in graduation not just snap your neck.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Yikes! There's no way in hell that would have held me up there. After going over the side my pants would be pretty full of excrement. That's how I wanna die, poopy pants and sobbing like a little girl.

They said this morning that the guy was drunk.... go figure :rotz:

I wanna go like my Grandpa did...peacefully in my sleep, not screaming & crying like the people in the back seat. :D
