Ok  well I've just finsih one drivers door putting in the 72 rallye indents and it has took me about 3 months to get done. And I still have another door ::). And this was doing this a hour and a half each day for 5 days for around 3 months so I didn't have alot of time. And well let's say this was the first extreme bodywork I've done other then patching up a rusted hole in the same door. And well somehow the dimensions got screwed up and there almost 4.25 inchs away from front which should of been 4 and a half. But to me they look almost perfect and it fits without warpage which is what I was really afraid of. But whoever is considering this for theirs they can see what they look like on my 73. But I want to know what you great bodyman think for a amatuer doing this sort of thing. And I'll get another picture of it sprayed in flat black also. And had issues at how the indents were suppose to be angled since bodylines were different on 72's.

I bought them off ebay for 500 which now seems like alot to me  :brickwall:. But I'm afraid to get the other door measured a little off on the next one because this didn't measure what I had the hole cut out for. But filled it with metal filler and rubberized coated the inside to protect it and the patch panel I did also. And I think it was a pain to make the filler flush with the rest of the door.  Because I'm still in High school and was afraid to take on this big task.

Good job there. That's not as easy to do as it looks.
I plan to alter the plain doors on my 71 by inserting some 71 R/T panels. I removed them from a couple of rusty doors that I bought for $200.

The 71 R/Ts skins are what I wanted first but I got the 72 rallyes cheaper so I got what I had the money for  :yesnod:. But post when you get yours done I'd love to see them.

That would be an easy repop for someone

Larry, I talked to a guy last year about making a set of dies to do just that. He came by the shop, took one look at the panels and said that he couldn't help me. Their shape is complicated. Much more so than you would think. I even thought about making a set of dies myself that you would bolt together through holes drilled into the door. You would use large grade 8 or 9 bolts and tighten them with an impact and then just weld up the holes after the dies have been pulled together and removed. Gave up on that idea. Too much work. I need to spend that time building wingcar parts.
I think that there's market for it if you could figure out a way to do them.

I would keep searching for 71 to match louvers with quarter window louvers.

Great job!!! just what I think breaks the lines with quarter louvers.

I like better 72 rally doors than 71 R/Ts thought!

I see your point Nacho - they would all be verticle louvers.  That's 2 in the door & 3 in the quarterwindow

Ya Nacho I really wanted those 71 R/t doors because of my SE having the lovered window which would of made it perfect. I just couldn't find anything at the time so I found these on ebay and were already cut out of a door so couldn't get easier then that  :yesnod:. I really didn't want to buy a good set of 71 doors and chop them up just for my SE either. And 41husk I plan on keeping the opera windwos and maybe convert to full vinyl but something is coming up with another car I've been trying to get for 2 years so my baby might have to go after all this work to it. But if my car gets sold I'm for sure keeping those doors if I ever get another 73 SE.
