Thanks everyone for the encouragement. Next step is the left fender. I have 2 one that has a really bad crash with bondo about 1/2" deep I don't know what they were thinking when they did that it is insane and crazy kinda makes me mad.  :flame:  The other someone cut on and attempted to repair it which is the one I will probably try to fix but obviously didn't know how to weld at all.  :brickwall:  I have more pics of the cars if yall want me to post.

Don't all Charger hoods have grills/openings on the back edge of the hood? Or am I missing something.

No, not all chargers have hood vents.  Starting in 71, there were several differents hood, a flat hood, bulge hood, shaker bulge hood and i think a special superbee hood(could be mistaken on that one),  THe flat hood, was just that, flat no vents or anything, bulge hood was a hood that had a slight bulge in the hood to allow better clearance and as a styling item, bulge hood were mostly found on RTs and Ralleyes most SE and Base model chargers had the standard flat hood.  Nacho will find this and can explain this better than i but its a start. the black car is my 74 SE with a flat hood and the purple one is a shot of my parts car BEFORE the previous owner sold the bulge hood.

rt green I dont know about a body man it took me 1 1/2 to get it there working in the afternoons and it still has a dip in the middle of the hood but I am happy about it. ;D

dukeboy_318 thanks for the info I was really wondering about that and now I know  :2thumbs:

firefighter, definitly post more pics  :2thumbs: stay away from that bondo fender go with the one that needs to be welded.
As for the differences in hoods: 71's flat hood, ramcharger hood, super bee hood, rt bulge hood. ramcharger, super bee, and rt hood are all bulge hoods super bee and rt hoods have their own unique inserts, the ramcharger has the door that opens (very cool)
The 71 flat hood has the same (if im not mistaken) "gap"in between the vents at the back of the hood as 72 models which is about...4 inches? or so? anyway you could get 71 hoods with that same gap on the 3 mentioned bulge hood styles.
All 72 hoods have the gap i have heard of a ramcharger hood (71 style with vents all the way across) on a 72 rallye. 73's the gap got bigger  with 2 series of vents and the 74's had no vents at all (like firefighters hood) this is the difference's as i know it.

Thanks Steve P.  I just become a firefighter so I could drive FAST legally lol  :D Well I am working on it I did some work on the fender today got off all the old BONDO of it and straighten the fender as good as I could and put a little filler back on it and will be sanding it tomorrow. Will post some more pics when I get it sanded some.

Thanks for all the support everyone

mikesbbody I actually started on the one with all the bondo because the other one is really messed up on the front edge that matches the the hood and I dont see anyway that I can get it straight with out taking the skin completely apart and I dont want to have to bother with that. But I will probably still fix it in the future when I have more experience.  I plan on fixing the the 74 too so it will be going back on it in the future. But for now Im working on the 73 and using what I can off the 74. I will try to post some pics of how bad the front end is so you can see what I mean.

joey, if the bondo one is the better option go with that. You have 2 to choose from and if it looks as nice as the hood its gonna be great!
good luck and post more pics when you can  :2thumbs:

LOL  dukeboy318 and Old moparz If yall have time I do lol could always use the practice on some elses stuff. Hey it aint like its mine. :D LOL

Also a question for some of yall instead of post another topic. What would be your suggestion on this. 1 cut a patch panel out of the fender on the 74 or 2 find some sheet metal and try and make a patch panel. Then where would you cut it at above or below the body line :scratchchin: kinda dreading that fix but I have time lol. Really cant mess it up much worse that it is

that's the bondo fender? or the fender that needs welding? i think its repairable a good body man could do it. You may still end up with some bondo though. Dont get me wrong, i have nothing against bondo as long as the whole cars not full of it and it doesnt fall off when driving.
I know i have some in my car alot of us do. I would put the best fender on and maybe at a later date when something better comes along put that on good luck

dukeboy_318

theres a couple decent ones on ebay right now, not trying to advertise for them, but just something to look at. :shruggy:

Sorry about that it is the one that needs welding. And I am tring to use as little filler as possible I put it on and sand just as much as I can off and when I find high spots I tap them down and sand some more till I just have very little filler. Luckly most of the spot that were on the hood when I got done were only about 2 maybe 3 inches in diameter becasue I hate the thought of filler but I understand that you have to have it unless you have all new panels that are perfect so I am doing a lot of straightning even if it takes me a month to do a piece. Just hate that it is taking so long but hey at least I am trying new things especially with everyones help out here.
