how many ponies can a street handel?

everyone always thinks more power is better. but when does it go overboard, its gotta get annoying when you cant take off from a stop light without peeling out, wheres the line that says maybe 1200 horsepower isn't that much better then 1100 horsepower. Is it at 500, 600, 700... 1,000,000?

All on personal preference    In my mind you always end up saying ( if only i would have done this) OR if i only had this much more    its really never ending though..  I would say 600 - 700

so much of that has to do with your tire's contact patches and where the power is made.
small dia. tires without much width especially a hard compound,.. then there's also the gearing....

and then of course there is the nut behind the wheel...
